MrsHarrison wrote: »Hi. Just wanted to know if anyone has had success claiming PPI on behalf of a deceased person. My mother suffered a stroke leaving her unable to pay her credit card. Abbey National were contacted and we were unable to claim under the PPI. I ended up paying the balance from my savings. My mother later died.
Am I able to claim for the PPI and the balance I paid as I was wrongly advised by Abbey National when I contacted them?
Any advice/help would be appreciated. Thanks
Hello and welcome
I am so sorry of the loss of your beloved mum.
Its definately worth finding out on this, as this could also be a help to others in the same situation as yourself here.
So below I have posted a new thread which is still within these reclaiming threads, but someone who may know the answer to this right away will probably be able to help and advice.

Wishing you luck on this matter.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Nothing to report here just waiting, although we did get a letter from Natwest to day to ask if we wanted a loan.0

Evening all, again..
I'm looking for advice for a friend. She took out a mortgage with Natwest and ended up getting Mortgage Protection Insurance. She is self employed and went for a mis-sell last year.
Natwest rejected claim saying she had ticked box.
She did not go to FOS straight away as she was unsure.
I told her to contact them ASAP which she did but FOS said that she was too late as it was after 6 months.
Is there anything she can do (especially in light of JR).
She could do with the help.
any ideas?0 -

Hiya
If there was any personal reasons that got in the way of your friend making your complaint to the FOS within the 6 months timescale, they will consider taking the case on.
For example, hospital reasons, personal issues and so on.
To expand more on this though, I suggest to post on a new thread so it won't get missed and maybe someone will have more suggestions on this.:)

That is good then, she can tell the FOS a final decision was never received, nor any details of the FOS, they must consider taking this one now. Also state if she had known it was the final decision with details of the FOS then she would have followed these procedures, but assumed that was the end of that complaint.
And thank you.:beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

That was just a "fob off" from NatWest (Helpful Banking :rotfl:)
We all had to tick the box albiet a loan or credit card so that has nothing to do with it. The point being was the policy correctly sold in the first place. Find out about more about the policy and did it cover being self employed ? If it does not, remember NatWest would have asked about your employment before giving you the loan, so they knew you were self employed and therefore the policy is void and YES you have a good case to re-claim.0 -
Hello All,
I have only just joined this forum and I am not really sure of what questions have been asked in the past.
I used to have several credit cards with £ooo's of credit over the years. I have managed to clear all the cards by consolidation loans etc. Basically I now do not have any credit cards (and better off for it).
Regarding claiming of PPI, does anybody know where I stand on claiming this when my accounts have been closed? Are these claims only for those people who still use their credit cards?
Thanks0 -

Hi and welcome.
Even if the accounts are no longer active you can still make a reclaim on the PPI if mis sold for some reason, it makes no difference if the account is still active or settled.
To make a reclaim, complete the below reclaim questionnaire as shown on step 3, remember to keep copies, and send one to whoever set up your policy, head office or complaints dept.
Allow 8 weeks for a decision, good luck.

Due to all the help posted on this forum, I am working my way through piles of old paperwork relating to credit card and loans - I have come across an old account I had with Grattan which I had for many years and closed in 2002. I was a housewife at the time with young children, and have noticed that they deducted payment protection insurance every month. Has anyone had any success with claiming this PPI back?0
