oh dear........:o
I can see this one of Hamilton taking some time to be honest, as its the insurer (due to the broker dissolved) I have gone this direction, and they do not back down that easy.
The FOS are trying to make these responsible as well, due to the fact they would have had some part of this, for instance when it was approved, all details, plus insurance, to make sure your eligible. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi Guys.
Hope someone can advise me of the next step. I recently wrote to all my loan companies for a copy of my agreement, unfortunately, I destroyed all my paperwork when the loan was settled. As I do not have the agreement number, I gave as much details to the companies for them to search on their system. This included:
my full name
address
date of birth
mobile
start date of loan and settled date (Feb 2006 - May 2006)
term and amount (these were taking from credit file)
I have checked old statements and unfortunately payments taken out by Direct Line did not include a ref number.
Direct Line has replied with a standard letter:
" We have conducted a search of our records using the name and address supplied. From the information you have provided, it is not possible to trace the accounts you requested,
Please contact your client to ask them to clarify their details. Where possible supply full name, address and agreement number quoted on the customer's copy of any documents provided to them from the lender"
First of all what client?!... I am not a company and I am the direct customer...second of all, I explained I do not have any paperwork in my letter already and have given them all the details I could think of giving them.
Since the loan was taken out in 2006, it has only be four a bit years, so they should still have my records. What happens if they do not and they have misplaced my details?
Cheerios
So I've contacted ICO...apparently loan companies are entitled not to give out details without a loan agreement number. If they can't find records of your loan by other means such as address, date of birth etc, in essence they cannot find your details so cannot provide you with what you want. Even if it is within 6 years, they will not get into trouble.
I was advised to contact my bank for ref numbers and I have managed to get all 3 quite easily. Hopefully they are the ones.
Hope this help for others...0 -
Hi
I've recently contacted a company Belmont Thornton about reclaiming mis sold PPI but their fees come in at 25% plus VAT for a successful claim.
Has anyone had any experience of them and has anyone any idea if its worth paying that much of a fee?
Thanks in advance

No it's not, just use the good advice given on here0

Hi Simon
As Only_Mee says do not go to a claims company where they will charge you, you can do this all free with help from this site.
Always be wary of claims companies.
All you do is complete the FOS questionnaire as shown on the link below further down the page as stage one.
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance
Remember to keep a copy, and sent to whoever set up and sold you the ppi, they have 8 weeks in full to respond and post by recorded delivery.
Ask for help anytime too, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
