I got a really nice custom tattoo done at a tattoo parlour in Edinburgh called The Alchemist's Cave. It's a little place which you may miss if you do not know where it is (Easter Road 39) but the guy is a great artist.0

Hi,
I've not got any tattoos at the moment, but I am looking to get a full sleeve tattoo in 'faded' black & white with maybe a little colour - can anyone recommend anywhere that may be able to do a good job? I stay pretty central between Glasgow & Edinburgh but travel isnt an issue to find the right place.
Cheers!0 -
Hi,
For me personally l would never consider any other tattooist apart from Johny Silver in Falkirk.
He is an amazing artist, and will go out of his way to create you the tattoo design you want.
Take any photo in to the shop and he will create it onto your skin.
Tattoo's are for life, so get yourself a good artist, someone who will listen to the design you want then Johny Silver is your man.0 -
Hey, I was looking for an artist who has a great reputation in doing oriental / japanese style work in Edinburgh.
I'm not fussed how much it would cost just as long as they are truly great and highly respected for their work.
I don't skimp and save when it comes to a piece of my body and something which will be forever.
Also, how can someone truly call a tattooist brilliant if that person has only ever been tattoo'd by one artist and can't compare, I don't take away credit from the artists who are truly great and their work speaks for itself. But honestly everyone who's had a tattoo done says their artists is the best, not everyone can be the best, everyone is good in their own style.
l have been to others in the past until l found johny silver. so l think l can compare.
the other way is to stop people if you like their design and the work and ask them who did their tattoo.. word of mouth is the best advertisment0 -
^ First two posts are recommending an artist. Really not a good advertisement at all!0

Hi guys, this forum has been great and the recommendations really helpful, but I was wondering if someone could give me a little further advice, apologies if this question doesn't benefit many.
I'm in the process of designing what I hope will eventually be an entire back chest and sleeves design, but it's very fantasy focused (I'm talking Tolkien-esque dragons, swords, armour, trees, amongst others) and in all the galleries I've checked out I've not seen much of this sort of work, most likely because few people want all that on their bodies for the rest of their lives!
Aaaanyway, can anyone recommend an artist in Scotland experienced with this sort of work, or am I simply best to find a skilled artist and ask them for their best impression?
Thanks
(ps this is not something I'm rushing into for any who wish to steer me from my bad choices)
