For tights, I'd wash them by hand and wring them out. Then press them hard between towels (spreading them out as much as I could). Then, get a hairdrier that has one of those wide round diffusers and you can finish them off by standing up and holding the diffuser downwards into the tights (either a leg at a time or fix the waistband to the diffuser.

Sorry Treliac don't know how to do the clever quoty thing but to answer your question as to how many 56 year olds "need" sheltered housing - the answer is it depends on your definition of "need".
Some of our younger residents have health issues which require safe and appropriate housing to allow them to live independently: these needs can perhaps be put in the more urgent category. They need sheltered accommodation now.
Some of our younger residents are perfectly healthy and have simply planned ahead anyway so that they can relax and enjoy their retirement. Their needs are obviously less urgent - it's just that they have decided to take the long view and plan for the future when their circumstances change or their health deteriorates.
Judging by our waiting lists, it would seem more and more "younger" people have realised the potential pitfalls of being older and less agile and are planning ahead for their future. My view is they are probably very wise to do so because within the next couple of decades there is likely to be a huge demand for retirement housing.
( It is a fact that, despite recent legistlation forcing new build housing to "age-proof" houses by providing wider door frames for wheelchair access etc, most of our conventional housing is woefully inadequate to meet the needs of disabled people and/or our aging population).
Silvercar - relief as in weekends, holiday & sickness cover etc but I guess you knew that and were just being facetious.0 -
