Car accident - Insurance Co. make silly offer.

the SI version may have been a lot different when it was new. when its 12 yrs old its just another fiesta, and in some ways its even worse. older drivers who can afford the extra insurance premium wont be interested in a 12 yr old banger.
kiddies who like the SI cannot afford the premiums. therefore the selling price reflects that fact.
same as the older vw golf GTI. no one wants them.
everyone thinks their car is worth more than it really is.
take the money and move on.Get some gorm.0 -
OK. Well I DID argue and after a lot of emails, turned out that they were basing their values on 95-96 cars and not the late 97 (june) that my daughters was. Also didn't take into account that the extras on the SI are of value.
Turns out that the car was once a Cat 'C' write off (Really??) and they devalued it because of that too.
I finally settled on £700.00 PLUS I am having the wreck (Cat B (Grrr) ) returned to me for spares & breaking. (worth at least another £200).
Now we wait to see what they offer for the stress & upset & injury (strained neck!) I can see another dozen Emails - Or perhaps they'll just give in, this time."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -
It's a pain in the butt but keep going. They never seem to be a in hurry to resolve anything - bet they would if it was their money instead though!"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
sell the wheels and tyres seperatly if you are breaking it, they are quite tasty wheels on the si, if they are intact
if its a cat b there wont be many panels worth having to be honest.
my car is a 40k miles stilo, i know if it gets written off i am screwed cos how many other 2002 cars are only now on 40k miles?things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then
