You have been indefinitely suspended from eBay

I have been suspended from ebay without warning I've got 100% 90+ feedback, previous 18 months good account standing etc.

I got this in my message box "You have been indefinitely suspended from eBay because our records indicate your account was involved in activities that violate our policy." ...."We regret to inform you that we have suspended your account for breaching eBay's Unauthorised Copies (Copyright) Policy." (I was selling an MP3 compilation on DVD).

I know their Request for Reinstatement process says they will consider reinstating the account if you supply proof of address and name to
VeRO Department Reinstatements
eBay International AG
P.O. Box 9473
Dublin 15
Ireland.
But I'd like to find out if a VeRO suspension and a resultant "indefinately suspended account" can or has been reinstated after going through the proof of details fax process. Or is it a waste of time?

we ahd one of those messages a while ago it was a scam to try and get your details by clicking the link. Had the same with paypal as well. must say the scam site was good though if you werent on the ball they would have got what they wanted.

just try login as normal NOT through any link they send you, also setup a rule in outlook to move mails containing ebay.co.uk in the senders address to a seperate folder, thsi way scammers mails always end up sat in the inbox so you know right away, helps organise things for you to :-)

Assuming this was not a phishing mail you may have a problem. Unfortunately selling copied media is illegal in UK and someone will have reported you which is why ebay have suspended you.

It is possible to be reinstated if you jump through all the hoops and obstacles that ebay put before you, just be patient, supply the info they want and keep on at them. It can be a slow process and meanwhile don't be tempted to use ebay under any other id.

If you are feeling brave you might want to try asking on the unmoderated ebay group (Google for uk.people.consumers.ebay ). However I warn you that many users there will not be sympathetic of the suspension, but others may well have some good advice.

Is it possible to do that in Outlook Express? Or do you do it from Hotmail?

What were you actually selling Westy that could have resulted in suspension?

If you were selling cpoied media then unfortunately you only have yourself to blame and if you go thru the process they will reinstate your account after aprox 2 weeks.

Did you receive the message by e mail only? If so then its not from e bay. If the message is in your message box once you have logged into your e bay a/c in the normal way (on your "my ebay" page then its genuine.

If its genuine and you have not sold anything that you shouldn't have then fight your case and send them what they ask for, if you were trying to sell copied stuff then you've broken the rules (whether knowingly or not) so you're in the wrong and will have to suffer the consequences. Oooops.

    I hadn't spotted that.

Good on ebay I say :T

Far too much breach of copyright on ebay - I just wish they could get rid of all of it

Also, ebay don't suspend your account the first time you get caught selling dodgy stuff.

You get a couple of warnings first and get suspended if you repeatedly offend - so anyone who gets suspended usually only has them selves to blame for being greedy.

Hi sorry about the lack of response but it was late. I can not log into my ebay account so it defintely isn't a scam. I know I deserved the suspension and if they reinstate me it I wouldn't do it again, I worked hard to keep my feedback at 100%

I was made redundant recently so cash is on short supply, everyones got a story though eh, the dvd I sold did inform the buyer did it was a dvd-r in the listing and they had to own the original. I know backup is not illegal if you already own the original but I guess sale of backup is something else.

I didnt really look into it propely first. There was around 20 of the same music dvd compilations I was selling on the completed sales list. Many from people with over 250 positive feedback so I thought it was safe. Anyway thanks for the advice I will be faxing off the relevant data today.
