I'm definitely going to investigate a home made idea this year. My mum's still got the wonky vase I made from moddleing clay for her from 12 years ago :)

Not tight at all. On my Mam and Gran I usually spend upto £10 each. For just over £10 I've done them quite large pamper hampers each, I've seen some with 1/5th of what I've put in them selling for £14 each so...score, lol
If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!

No Mum could fail to be pleased with this low cost idea. My MIL still has the one I gave her 20 years ago.

Just wrap a small box or piece of polystyrene in a pretty paper with ribbon & fix this on a label or sticker. Easy Peasy!

It's easy enough for children to do say, cubs or brownies.

"This is a very special gift that you can never see,
The reason it's so special is, it's just for you from me.
If ever you are lonely, or ever feeling blue,
You only have to hold this gift to know I think of you.
You never can unwrap it, please leave the ribbon tied,
Just hold the box close to your heart - it's filled with love inside."

What a fabulous idea. We have set, as parents, a maximum of £5 for our kids to spend on us at birthdays etc as they now have young families of their own and some are studying. I would hate to be the cause of stress so I suggested the £5 max for them, it makes the really imaginative and creative. Well done you.

I would much rather receive that, made personally for me with love and care, than something expensive from the shop that isn't personal.

I'd love to receive something like that from mine.

As others have said, absolutely not tight at all, I'd love to receive anything someone had taken the time to make for me. I made lots of our pressies last year and really enjoyed it (and the money saving). Intend to do more this year :D

  • My mum would never accept mothers day cards or presents, she used to say why make someone else rich to tell her she was loved. We bought her flowers chocolates or a cream cake on random days of the year other times we cleaned her windows, did the odd jobs, cleaned the ironing cupboard! she hated ironing if something went in there it stayed there. Growing up I thought everyone did the same. Since having my own children I also insist that they don't spend money that day, both of them do very random things for me when I'm not expecting it or if I'm feeling rundown. They never miss birthdays or Christmas and if they are short of money they make compilation cd's with a secret message on the end. I wouldn't have it any other way. Love should be from the heart not the bank.

That's a lovely phrase sums up what we've all being saying so well.

I'm going to pinch that! - Thank you
