we don't normally spend loads on mothers day for the Mums but its more of a token gesture ( that sounds awful but they ask us not to spend loads as they know we have a mortgage , bills to pay etc etc ) but this year money is even more tight so am making them a couple of bits
I've just worked out that they can both have a handmade decorated candle and a really lovely earring and pendant set which I'm making and I will probably have spent the grand total of £3 for both of them
is that being really tight ???

no, it's not tight at all, it's lovely.
The fact you are making the gifts means much more than spending £50 on some thoughtless tat that will get stuck in a drawer.

Well done! My mum enjoys the presents I give her which i put alot of thought and effort into as you have with yours.:A
As my mum keeps telling me its not the cost of the gift but the thought behind it.
So again well done.trying to do better in 2012! :j

A home made gift to me is worth much more than a bought one regardless of how much it cost. Your mum should be very greatfull to receive such a thoughtfull gift.0

i can echo all the above. I remember getting a necklace from my little boy about 30 years ago which he had made himself. I wondered why the weekend before he had insisted on keeping all the melon pips!!!!!make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

My girls make things for me and sometimes just do the washing and chores for the day and as I work I don't get brekkie in bed but often come home from work to dinner and homemade cake, I wouldn't have it any other wayPucker up and kiss it Whoville! - The Grinch:kiss:0

No Its not tight! Home made is best as it takes time, effort & love but anyone can drift into a shop.0

As long as your mum likes homemade things then she will adore this. I think its what Mothers Day is all about.
Unfortunately I do have a mother who favours expense over sentiment and I know she'd die if I made her something

I think your lovely gifts will be much appreciated and treasured.
It takes a lot more time and thought to actually make something.
Think you're very sensible and not tight.0
