The information always has found does seem very relevant.

Who is living in this house at the moment?

The House is now empty - its up for a quick sale.

Thanks dmg I was not sure how you quote from other threads x
  • sleepy, no-one is asking you not to keep your dignity.

It's just that without all the facts, no-one can give accurate information.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

Please dont insult my Mother. I wasnt after sympathy, I was after some help.

    My Mum smokes (yuk)
My Mum lent me £42,000 which didnt work out.
My Mum started a new life away from friends and family, and spent around £1,200 / month getting by on her own (probably spending too fast as she thought I would have repaid the money).
I thought it was your mum and dad that lent you the money. Als it was the cause of your mum and dad's marriage breakup. Can you clarify this point?

edit it was an accidental thanks to sleepy, I meant to thank dmg

Even if you repaid her in full tomorrow it would only last another three years at her present rate of spending. You say she is 60 now - what did she expect to live on if she lasts 'til she's 90? She wouldn't get that much in pension credits so sooner or later she would have to adjust her lifestyle.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

no just confused by your story, if you owe your mum and dad the money surely you only owed your mum 21.000 and your dad 21.000 or am I missing something

Also you have never mentioned you had another house, changes things slightly!

House was bought from my Mum & Dad.

    Mum is owed £37,000
    Dad is owed £6,000

House is empty and up for sale to get rid of.

There is no such thing as a quick sale in the current market. The income from a tenant in the property would go a long way towards paying for your mum's outgoings.

If things are really so bad, I still don't see why she cannot live in this house. Yes, it would mean her moving areas, but this is surely a better option than living on the streets, as you have suggested you may end up doing?
    Gone ... or have I?

Your Mother is not entitled to help. She was foolish enough to give you £40k and then spent the remaining £40k IN THREE YEARS!!!!!. She has deliberately deprived herself of capital. Further, you have been very conservative with the truth. She is not about to be made homeless; indeed she has paid her rent 6 months in advance and has a reasonable sum in the bank, plus whatever you give her.

    Stop wasting people's time.
  • I am going to stop posting now.

I came on here looking for help for my Mum.

If people believe that I was with-holding information then I am sorry. I could have started a new username. I am saddened by the fact that you felt that you needed to check previous postings.

I am saddened too by the fact that some people believe that because my Mum & Dad tried to help me previously, then they shouldnt be entitled to any help now.

If you feel that I didnt give the full story straight away then I am sorry, but it would have been a long post! - I have tried to answer all questions as they arose, no matter how intrusive some of the were.

If you are upset my Mum's excessive Smoking, then try not to be. She started at an age that is was more widely accepted.

I have meant to be as honest as possible throughout this Thread, I did not mean any harm to anyone and hope that you will not take anything personally as I will try not to.

I will pass on the helpful information from some posters, again I really appreciate your comments and I would go through this ordeal again just for your positive comments.
