Apart from Christmas, I hardly ever use snail mail anyway.
Postage rates are going up in April - 1st class by 3P.
Stamps bought now and printed 1st Class will be valid for 1st class post.Born to shop;)0 -
thankyou for this iv just used my last oneonwards and upwards0

I've been known to toss applications that came in manilla/brown envelopes rather than white A4 ones - as I was told when starting out that you should at least try to make a good impression, and brown envelopes wreak of bills and the Revenue!
I was told at school a while ago now!! Always use a first class stamp, white envelope and wear clean shiney shoes to maximise your chances of success.
Probably a grain of truth in this advice! If we buy our 1st class stamps at superdrug we can save 5% after all!!0 -
I bought books of 2nd class and 1st class stamps both with 5% off at Superdrug yesterday.
I'd double check if I were you.
Bought some 1st class today at 2 Superdrug shops - got both of them to verify cost of the 2nd class ones whilst I was there.
Book of 12 @ £3.24 is NORMAL FULL Price
Only got the 1st class with 5% offIs there anywhere you can buy 2nd class stamps at a discount?
Not as such, (not for small/thin "Letter" class that goes for 27p) but remember that for any "Large Letter" or "Packet" that you might need to send, you can make up the 2nd class postage amount using 1 (or more) 1st class stamps (bought at a discount) plus 1 (or more) small value stamps.
For example, the under 100g Large letter sent 2nd class is 42p - this could be achieved with a standard 1st class "gold" stamp plus another 6p stamp.
Or a Packet under the 750g / £2.08 postage (2nd class) could be stamped up using 4 x "Large Letter" 1st class (gold) stamps (current value 52p - so 4 x = £2.08) - these are currently on sale (Book of 4 x Large 1st ) for just £1.98silkcutblue wrote: »But there is a limit to how many books you can buy at once, isn't there? I vaguely recall it on one of the posters.
It says 72 stamps per customer per day - but I bought over 100 today in one shop without any problemstravellingbum wrote: »I'm sorry, but I just can't get excited about saving less than 2p a letter.

How about 11.5p a letter ?
Bought stamps today at Superdrug for 49.5p each
After 6th April they will be cost 61p - just what mine will be worth.
That's an investment with more than a 23% return almost immediately.

Just to update .....
Found an even better offer in MAKRO - almost TWICE AS GOOD !
ONLY available on "nomal" (not "Large") 1st class "Gold" stamps
They are doing a "pack" of 60 (that's SIXTY) at almost 9% discount
You actually get 10 books of 6 for just £19.69 - should cost £21.60
so that's a saving of £1.91 - approx 8.84% discount - or OVER 3p per stamp
Your 1st class stamp (currently worth 36p) available to buy at just 32.8 pence each

Who are these 'stamp dealers'? How are they able to offer such big 10% discounts? Can you recommend any in particular?
I understand they buy stamp collections and break them up so they can sell them on, part of which is current stamps. If you do a search for 'discount stamp' you will find some there who are currently offering 1st and 2nd at a substantial discount before taking into account the price rise. I buy my postage for ebay sales there and I have made quite a bit over the time I have been selling.0
