About the employers discarding applications by the stamp and the colour of the envelope (maybe you use the ones from recycled papers which are not white) than you hear them complaining that they have incapable employees ...

I am looking for work for a few months now and it's really depressing seeing lots of people in real life that do their job so badly (calling a company and having to speak to 3 people as they don't have a clue about their business, reception girls who are not bother to leave their telephone conversation with a friend and I could go on forever ...... but they have a job as they have been luckier than me and made a better impression: maybe their resume was worse, they wore less qualified but it was on a whiter paper and maybe they had a nicer suit at the interview
    rant over

Is there anywhere you can buy 2nd class stamps at a discount?

I bought books of 2nd class and 1st class stamps both with 5% off at Superdrug yesterday.
    Born to shop;)

Yes, as mentioned earlier, search online for 'discount stamps' or similar and you will find there are dealers who will sell them with a bigger discount, I usually get mine at about 90% of the face value, they will be in short supply as we get nearer to the price rise though.

I've been known to toss applications that came in manilla/brown envelopes rather than white A4 ones - as I was told when starting out that you should at least try to make a good impression, and brown envelopes wreak of bills and the Revenue!

I chuck out the white ones.

Brown are recycled = better for the environment, so is making a good impression.

I went into Superdrug in Bluewater and asked for the 5% offer for 2nd class stamps and was told the discount was only on 1st class...

Who are these 'stamp dealers'? How are they able to offer such big 10% discounts? Can you recommend any in particular?
  • I'm sorry, but I just can't get excited about saving less than 2p a letter.
Apart from Christmas, I hardly ever use snail mail anyway.

Well for anyone who runs a small business this could be very important...
