I got my renoir yesterday and so far I am pleased with it, I am going from a SE C905 mind which I thought was terrible. So for now i am happy with it. although I am having problems syncing to PC. but I think It's me not doing it right.
regards.

I'm also in my second day with the Renoir and I am quite happy with it....
The touchscreen is on the whole very good, I like the text method (certainly easier for me than any other phone I have used). Using the touch screen for web is more difficult and really you need to use the stylus. The T-mobile browser which seems to be based on opera is a bit limited so I might download an alternative and see how I get on. I really like the GPS feature although it takes ages to get my location.
I can connect to my wireless network with no problems but I can't work out if Wifi is being used.... in the Internet settings you can choose a profile (either Wifi or T-Mobile) so I think setting this is all you need to do.
The Camera is excellent and has loads of options and features, same is true of the video.... very good for a mobile phone. DIVX playback is very good, no complaints.
The Media Player I like, the categorisation of tracks is what you'd expect from a half decent media player and you do get this. Personally I think Dolby Audio is a waste of time. Also listening to audio using Bluetooth headphones there is a lot of background noise so I am not happy with that. I haven't tried the radio...
I need to experiment a little more but overall I am very pleased.0 -
Does it cost to use the GPS?0

Yes the Google maps are downloaded off the internet, but in the case of the T Mobile deal there is 1GB of internet data included each month.0

I assume you cannot save the google maps otherwise you could download for free via wifi(if you did not have any data allowances in your contract)0

I've been playing with the phone a bit more.
The handwriting recognition works well for me and speeds up texting (although I am slow at doing that anyway)
The screen is too small for browsing web pages and this is made worse by the Java navigation buttons on the screen that I don't seem to be able to remove.
Google maps also has the same Java nav buttons but it's less of a problem then.
Attempting to upload a video to Youtube caused the phone to crash when I clicked into the "Tag" field. This happened repeatedly and then caused my camera settings to be reset which was annoying.
The camera and video feature is very good... this is an area where the phone excels in my opinion.
I have got used to the addressbook and dialling methods and like them.
The bundled software is OK but would not install on my laptop. It seems a bit buggy to me.
I don't seem to be able to update either Google Maps or the YouTube java apps as these were bundled by T-Mobile... again a bit of a pain.
Shame there weren't some decent themes around.0 -
I have too had longer now to look at the renoir i agree the camera and video seem great yet to print a photo off through, The internet is ok but agree small screen and the buttons at the bottom a pain, google maps ok but not very fast loading the touch screen getting better as i use it more really like it now dont like handwritting text thing prefere the normal pad can text faster than i could on my old non touch screen phone. Having a few problem through can you help dfarry or any body else.
The wifi connects then when i click on web and walk it says failed to connect to the internet 100 java.io.ioexception: null after a long wait.
Can anybody explain what the charges are for mobile tv.
I can not play divx files can anybody tell me were i can download a tester file that will work on a phone
How do i set up my e-mail hotmail is not a choice and it i use the other option it does not workIf ive helped click thanks it will make me smile

You should be able to set up Hotmail if you go here and enter your details... the settings will be sent to you in a text message..

Not sure about that Java error you mentioned.
I have just updated the firmware on my Renoir to the EURO v10J version (the shipped version was V10E)... it is now free of all the T-Mobile stuff and according to Internet forums should be more reliable... but it is a risky thing to do.
There is more information here.. http://www.mygreatphone.com/forum/lg-renoir/11950-official-renoir-firmwares.html0 -
