Turned down for debit card Nationwide

Yes, that seems to be what happens. If you tick that you will use it as your main account, will transfer over all your direct debits and that you already have a debit card then that seems to help.0

Okay cool.
So I'm looking at the apply online section.
Says:
"Do you need..."
"an internet-based savings account or Monthly Income 60+ savings account?" "Yes/No"
Well I have an e-bond with my present current accont...so if I checked no would I be more likely to be accepted for a debit card?
Also, could I accept/reject an offer if I get one.
If they don't offer me a debit card the first time, could I reject and re-apply a second time?
Thanks...0 -

I had an existing e-savings with my cash card account so I said no to this and was still accepted. Also, could I accept/reject an offer if I get one.
Yep as I understand it you can.If they don't offer me a debit card the first time, could I reject and re-apply a second time?
I've heard of people doing this, however personally I'd probably wait and look at other factors like your credit history before trying again.
Good luck!!0 -
Alrighty thanks for that!
I was looking at Lloyds TSB accounts and they apparantly have a "Under 19s" account and they offer a debit card straight away
If I applied for a proper current account, do you think I would get one straight away?
Thanks...0 -
DCP, virtually every bank offers a debit card straight away. HSBC, Barclays, NatWest, Lloyds, Halifax - all offer a debit card of some description with their bog standard current accounts, and as you rightly say even kiddie accounts now come with VISA Debit cards. Nationwide are the only people who are truly choosy about giving them out. It's puzzling.0

HSBC didnt offer me a debit card as standard whilst Nationwide x 2, Abbey and A+L have done, when I received HSBC welcome phone call I made the point that the account is pretty useless without a debit card being as I signed up for paper free, :rotfl:response I got was a lot of people open an account as a secondary account to use for ebay sales etc.0
