Run and dont look back if you have kids or want kids
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
  • Forget the kids, just run.
I am a Mortgage Consultant and don't like to be told what I can and can't put in a signature so long as it's legal and truthful.

i have a pylon near me - not a problem - my dad who worked for the MEB states it is safe ... he was involved on the estate testing nano teslas or what ever it was in houses closer to the pylon in the 80's i remember him bringing a machine home - no pylons near my parents house - and he states he got no lower results in the frount room with the tv on. i live in the house with my brother and discussed the pylon with my father before buying - my dad would have never let me buy a house that he believed would be detrimental to both his childrens health!
Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"
  • Can anyone help me?

I bought a house last year and today was cutting the grass and found a double AA battery in the garden!!!
    Am I going to die?

    oh woe is meeee noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Yep, this is pretty much the case. I've seen these meters in action myself (they measure microtesla by the way). Any electrical device switched OFF will give you a higher electromagnetic field reading if you are close to it. A running microwave a couple of feet away produces a field several hundred times larger than powerlines, even at the distance in the photo above.

There is still no universally accepted theory as to why continuous exposure to power line EMF's can increase the incidence of leukaemia, but one of the most popular is that the EMF (electromagnetic field) interferes with the production of melatonin which is important for sleep. If this is the case most powerlines should be harmless, because if properly balanced, the fields at night drop to levels consistent with the earth's background fields (i.e next to nothing). The problem would lie with powerlines which are out of phase (don't ask me what this means) where the fields given off don't drop at night in line with reduced demand. As I understand it this problem mainly affects the lower capacity powerlines (132kv and below) which are more likely to be running through populated areas ( the big national grid lines of 275kv and 400kv are the ones you see marching across open countryside).
This balancing problem on lines can be corrected and meters can be hired to measure electomagnetic fields. It might be worth checking field levels, and if there is a problem petitioning the electricity company / National Grid to take action.
