Although we have to accept that we need electricity for kettles TVs etc but thats nothing compared to the heath risks from pylons. I remember buying a car from a bloke who lived next door to a huge pylon (almost touching his house) and stangely enough he was recovering from a brain tumor and his wife had also died a year earlier from cancer. They also make a hissing noise from the cables and some people say they can "feel" the electromagnetic fields as they walk past.0

If you're asking this question, then so will anyone who buys it off you..!
It's a personal choice, but I would'nt given how much we don't know, or discover in X years when it's too late - easily avoided!0 -

With 1 in 3 people developing cancer in their life times, the fact that the bloke you bought a car off and his wife both had it is unequivocal proof that pylons definately cause cancer:rolleyes:0 -

Some people say they have been abducted by aliens.
And some people think they are superman and jump off tall buildings convinced they can fly.0 -
i wouldnt buy one. so would many other potential buyers. it decreases your pool of potential buyers when you want to sell.
see reasons why i wouldnt buy from my earlier post about this on this thread
would you believe the recommendation of the official body or the internet warriors especially as the recomendation was based on costs over riding medical evidence!!!!!!!!!!!!!The Stakeholder Advisory Group on ELF EMFs (SAGE) has been set up by the UK Department of Health to explore the implications and to make practical recommendations for a precautionary approach to power frequency electric and magnetic fields as a result of the HPA recommendations in March 2004.
The first interim assessment of this group was released in April 2007, and found that the link between proximity to power lines and Childhood Leukemia was sufficient to involve a precautionary recommendation, including an option to lay new power lines underground where possible and to prevent the building of new residential buildings within 60 m (197 ft) of existing power lines.
The latter of these options was not an official recommendation to government as the cost-benefit analysis based on the increased risk for childhood leukemia alone was considered insufficient to warrant it. The option was considered necessary for inclusion as, if found to be real, the weaker association with other health effects would make it worth implementingbubblesmoney :hello:0 -
It's 400 yds away!!! That's nearly a quarter of a mile, over a third of a kilometre. A few years ago I was talking to someone who was complaining about power lines actually above his house/garden. Asked him why he bought a house under power lines if he didn't like them. "I didn't realise they were there" was the reply!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

with reference to my previous post. after reading the link that i provided and seeing what the body that investigated this issue says. i wouldnt buy a house near such things if at all possible to buy elsewhere even if elsewhere is costlier because if i did buy in such a place and then my child had some of the diseases associated with these things then i would never be able to forgive myself for saving a few pennies when i could have bought elsewhere. even if it is not logical i would prefer for my own sanity and childs welfare to buy elsewhere. but others may be more logical where their children are concerned and do otherwise. there is no right or wrong way each one chooses what is best for them after they consider the information at hand. for me that means not buying such things even if i have to spend a bit more.bubblesmoney :hello:0

With 1 in 3 people developing cancer
I think your figures are a bit out. I'm fairly sure that the figures are 1 in 3 people KNOW somebody who has had cancer.I am a Mortgage Consultant and don't like to be told what I can and can't put in a signature so long as it's legal and truthful.0 -

It's amazing isn't it. 400 yds is a long way and many new housing developments will have a pylon much closer to their house, but they won't realise it because there are houses blocking thier view.I am a Mortgage Consultant and don't like to be told what I can and can't put in a signature so long as it's legal and truthful.0
