My personal view on this issue is that all of these juices are £1.05 or £1.06.

The apple and red orange varieties should originally have been 1 litre bottles but as the offer is get another litre free, they are sold in 2 litre bottles ie 1 litre which is paid for and the other one free. In this situation, you are technically paying £1.06 for a litre with the remaining litre free.

The other flavours are a straight £1.05 for two litres and would prove to be better value if the 1 litre promotion would not have been in place on the other two flavours.

Asda has done nothing wrong in selling the flavours at these prices and in my view, the OP was wrong to demand action to be taken.
  • I've been overcharged at least 5 times in recent months at my local Asda Wal-Mart and never been given £2 vouchers. I thought they only refunded the difference.

They were wrong. It's still their policy. See the very bottom of the page:

What happens if I am overcharged?
If you have been overcharged in any of our stores we will gladly refund the difference (if you have been overcharged) and give you a £2 Gift card voucher for each transaction.
  • Have to agree xellieqx, now it was wine it would be a different matter.:rotfl:

In the Polish section of my local Asda there is a section of Costa Fruit juices at £1.05 and £1.06, depending on which flavour you get.

I noticed that on the Red Orange and the Apple packages it says "1 LITR GRATIS", but all the other flavours don't have the 1lt free on them.

Now I'm thinking, do ASDA assume that we Brits can't understand Polish and they hope that nobody complains or is it a genuine error in the buying/pricing department?

Either way I go to the CS Desk and say "I think that I have been overcharged for this item. I assumed that as it states that it is 1Lt free, I thought that I would get a saving of 53p at the checkout.

Anyway the CS tries to fob me off by saying that that is how we buy them in and here is nothing that we can do about it.

I then point out that this is against the law and I'm sure that Trading Standards would be very interested in this.

She gets on the phone and explains to the Manager and she said that there is obviously an error somewhere and she was to offer me my money back whilst keeping the item.

I say thank you very much and take my juice and £1.06 refund and say that as I have free drink, I won't be pressing for a £2.00 voucher. However when I come back tomorrow and they are still at the same price, then I will buy the whole shelf and demand a refund again and press for a £2.00 voucher for each item.

I am assuming that as they have already confirmed a misprice by refunding me, then they won't have a leg to stand on in the morning?

The item in question is Costa Czerwone Pomarancze 2L. (Costa Red Orange Juice) - Item No: 590050002335.

Fill your trolleys, drink, enjoy and discuss away.
i bet they love you in there
  • I think your misunderstanding this a bit, the 2L cartons (which are 1L free) are the same price as the usual 1L cartons... the free liter is already in the bottle hence you were never overcharged at all. And just FYI Tropicana is usually about £2 a liter!

Except at the moment, when it seems to be £3 for two litres pretty much everywhere.
