Sounds if you are lucky to have a high earning job, but you begrudge the tax you pay to support those less fortunate. One solution for you might be to stop working, let someone else have your job and try living on benefits yourself. That way you could achieve more peace in your life, instead of resentment.

the point is, you could learn to build a brick wall in a few hours if necessary.

There's a flaw in this post that I have noticed creep in to some of your other posts too. You keep posting things that simply aren't true, don't you?

Yes, I could learn to build a wall in a few hours. It'd be a crap wall though and would fall down.

Learning to build a complex structure in bricks would require thorough knowledge of equipment and the materials you use, knowledge of building drawings and architect plans, the ability to work with a variety of other tradesmen to ensure you work as a team, timekeeping skills to fit in with large projects and many other skills and different experiences.

I have no idea why I'm repsonding to your pointless posts, I'm going to make an effort not to bother very shortly.

Some say that working in a job you hate for purely the money can give you a gloomy outlook on life and make you very resentful and spiteful of others that enjoy life, even when they earn a lot less than you.

However, it's good to see that you've avoided that trap.

Can we try and guess your job? From your personality and your 'high salary' I would guess at either.

This discussion is ridiculous. My daughter works in the office of a large supermarket warehouse. All the lorry drivers are employed by an agency, not the supermarket and I should imagine Tesco drivers are the same. Agencies are not exactly known for their good terms of employment and Im not sure if they even get sick pay. That also goes for the pickers and the office staff and the managers, all employed by an agency, not the supermarket and they are treated badly.

Having been offered the chance of voluntary redundancy I've been looking at what other jobs I could do at my advanced age (50)

so far most of them have one or more of these drawbacks

    - worse paid than my present job (IT)

    - harder work physically

    - longer hours or weird shift patterns

    - short term contracts or otherwise insecure

    - no pension

    - require contact with drunk or aggressive members of the public

    - need to start in your 20s not your 50s

    - need qualifications I haven't got and haven't enough time left to acquire

    - require skills I don't have and never will have

    - need a lot of training to get competent

    - need you to start your own business and risk one's hard earned cash with no
    guarantee of success

At my boyfriends passing out parade in the police there was a 52 year old passing out at the same time! Although I believe points 1,2,3 and 6 apply to that particular career;)

Unfortunately not. It's 'Bettie Page'. She was a pin-up girl who became famous for her saucy photo's. Be warned if you google her that some of her photo's are nude and some risque and probably best not to be seen by children. ;)
