Because it's easier to sit here moaning about other people's wages. Not very well paid though......0

>>I am a junior Dr and don't think £21k is a lot of money for all the rubbish >>we have to put up with
... but the difference is that junior doctors have financially rewarding careers ahead of them, particularly if they become GP's and hit all those ridiculously easy targets. You could easily attain a six figure salary within eight years, and have a pretty pleasant lifestyle to boot. Our equally suffering nurse has only more of the same to look forward to.
Well if its that easy, why doesnt everyone do it? Very few jobs are overpaid for the amount of work that has to be put in. An average doctor studies for 5 or 6 years with huge debts, then works over 100 hours a week training for a further 8-10y and eventually gets a good salary continuing to work long hours! They have to put up with the same risks, abuse and government pressures that others have mentioned previously. Its very easy to comment on other peoples salaries but if the grass was truly that much greener then everyone would jump on board!0 -
Unskilled but yet you need training?
HGV medical, Driving test(Car), class 2, class 1, hazard perception and theory, nvq 3, and driver cpc coming in soon, and thats just a standard driver. Then add on all Airport training, RHIDES cards for the docks and Chemical training for the oil refinerys.
Thousands of people could do it, but there is a shortage?
Why dont they then?
Paid 30k a year for no more than ten hours a night, so why are more monkeys not doing it?
Ride your white horse some place else you !!!!!, and don't slip on any of those banana skins i left on the floor.
driving a lorry is easy. that is why most drivers are big tattooed lumbering oafs. I have never met a well educated well spoken lorry driver.0 -

I've never met a well educated or well spoken brickie, but I sure as heck can't build a brick wall (despite being well educated and well spoken).
White Horse, what do you do for a living? (apart from moan?) It seems that everyone else gets a high salary for doing very little according to you, so you surely must earn a fortune if it's that easy?0 -

I work in an nhs hospital as a nurse and earn 38k a year. This sounds wonderful, but....I have been sudying for nearly twenty years to get qualifications including a masters degree part time. All the courses I did were self funded and :A part time which I did around working and raising two children. The driving force behind this was that my husband who works incredibly hard earns around 14k a year and I was the one with the potential to earn better. Having said all that, I am still in debt and using all the resources on this site, which are great, to help me get sorted. Despite what peoples salaries are, when you are in debt the consequences are the same. Its just that when you earn more, you borrow more and the debt is more! The stress and worry for all debtors is exactly the same.Did: 5/9/17. Total repaid £70000!!!!!:T
Mortgage 1/9/2017 34000:eek:0 -

the point is, you could learn to build a brick wall in a few hours if necessary. a brickie couldn't learn to be a chartered accountant in the same time frame.
i couldn't build a wall either, but if i really wanted to, i could learn it in a matter of hours.
I do earn a reasonable amount thank you. and it is not that easy to do it.0 -

I'm not sure I could be a brickie though. I'm not strong enough. I don't have much patience. I'm not very neat. I get cold easily outdoors. I don't like heights.
Equally I'm sure lots of brickies couldn't be doctors, or wouldn't like being doctors.
If you are earning a lot and it's not easy, why not swap for one of these jobs you clearly think are such a breeze?
It's a good thing we are all different, otherwise we would all be fighting over the same jobs.
IMO job satisfaction is pretty important. I'd rather earn £20k doing something I love than £30k doing something I don't enjoy. My boyfriend and I always say how lucky we are to both love our jobs. It's also an attractive quality in a partner; to be passionate about their work.0
