    Check out yorkshirecarbootsales.co.uk

It says there's Leeds City bootsale on the 20th March.
  • Are these car boots still going? I know the one next to the airport is, but how about the others? i.e. Bramhope, Otley, Pannal? And where is the one in Wakefield that was mentioned?
  • I have spoken to the owner at the big car boot next to Leeds and Bradford Airport and he told me it opens again on the Sunday 24th March.
Carnt wait for it to start again.

There's one between Leeds & Harrogate on a big roundabout...Pannal? I used to go there to offload bits and pieces...tends to be slightly posher than other ones about Leeds so you get a bit more money :)

Pannal is hopeless for sellers. If there's a remote chance of bad weather they don't open, so it's a wasted journey when you get there and the gates are shut. Very poor service indeed, the same guy runs Otley, a little Gold Mine. it starts 12 noon, be there one hour earlier.

My best ratings: 1. Wetherby 6am/ , 2, Yeadon, 6am/ 3 Otley, 10am/ near Leeds Airport, another good one is Rufforth, 5 miles from York, on Wetherby to York road, but he wants £30.00!!!!! to stand, you have to be there for 5.00am, queue for an hour or more, a right surly lot to deal with and the pitch prices reflect a owner who couldn't care less whether you come or not, and dozens of long time regulars don't. So if its cheap household stuff keep well away.

Theres a big open air market at cross green, pontefract road on a Sunday that accepts carbooters and is open all year, havent sold there in a few years but its very busy i always did quite well. The yeadon one is definately the best but as you say it doesnt open until end of March.

The Council shut Cross Green 3 years ago, they'd had trouble with the disc-counterfeiters and the mock Gucci-Woochi handbag and designer clothes men. 5 years ago it was a really good market, but the Council shoved the pitch prices up and up and even a regular early entry stallholders annual permit was £300.00 a year extra (on top of the stand fee), in theory a permit give you a guaranteed pitch and some rights - but turn up 30 minutes late and the squatters from hell ,meaning Bradford had grabbed your pitch and claimed it was your fault and they thought you were not turning up and you can go to ^&$%^$ hell. The market staff were not interested and would not interefere, and it all went down-hill. From 300 stalls it went down to maybe 50, so they closed it. Leeds Kirkgate Market, you must have insurance, a pitch inside is £300. 00+ pw, plus £200.00 rates, plus £100.00 for extras+ legal gees, and it's now k.as Plywood Shuttered City, they have 200 stalls to rent and just 1 idiot a week 'going for it', with 2 idiots moving out each week. The Council want to shut it so they can re'develop the site.
