Where's the best car boot sale (Leeds)

Yeadon is the best near Leeds but I'm pretty sure this Sunday will be the last this year, so if your gonna do it, do it now! A lot of people wonder why some of the most successful don't run all year.. Well, these are usually all outdoors, usually in a field, and to avoid cancellation or disapointment due too adverse weather (some are inaccessable after a good nights rainfall) they usually all have a season starting from April to the beginning of Oct. If your wanting to do one during these months I recommend Yeadon, Otley (this is an afternoon one starts at 12, sellers from 11), and Panal, all just north of Leeds. There's also a newish one (been running a year or two) in Bramhope which is also on the Otley Road which is on a Saturday morning. This one was pretty good too the time I viited it and means you could do a Sat and a Sun if so inclined. Most of these boot sales start very early (Otley obviously not), even though they may say 8am start on the listings, that usually means about 6.30 (I know sellers at Yeadon start ariving from about 5am!), best to get there early so you can get a good pitch, get set up properly before the 'masses' arrive. Another couple of Sunday car boots that are held over this April to Oct season are the Racecourse ones, (these are usually, nice and big, enjoyable, and well organised). Weatherby, Thirsk, Ripon all have sunday car boots sales, but be carefull, always check there's NOT a race meeting on as if there is there will be no car boot sale, fortunately all the racecourses have websites with the relevent diary info (racecourse ones tend to be more fixed on start times so check, if they say 8am, they'll mean 8am). The best racecourse car boot I think, is York on a Saturday morning, if it's a warm day, it's massive! Now important ALL YEAR CAR BOOTS. There are a few, Dewsbury has a covered market so this one happens every sunday morning in the market area. Cross Green will happen every sun all year unless it's absolutely tanking it down. The same goes for Rufforth on the A64 towards York, it's in some old stables so tends to be sheltered from the elements. I have a feeling the Otley one continues over winter as it's hard standing on tarmac. That brings me on to my last point, check the weather forcast! If it's going to be dry, or even better, sunny, make the effort get there early, you'll do really well (so long as your realistic with your prices!), if the forecast is bad, if it's raining heavily the night before, if it's supposed to brighten up the next morning, think hard about whether the effort will be worth it. You can always wait for dry weather. If it's really raining off and on, I wouldn't bother, esp at the outdoor on grass ones, they're usually cancelled (check if there's a hotline or contact nu. to find out). Most of the buyers (and other sellers) won't either so you could pack your car and drive a longish way for nothing. It should be a good experience so be sensible. Right, I'm off to a car boot now! Seriously!

Hi, I do the Leeds Bradford Airport (Yeadon) car boot once a year to clear out my junk and get some holiday spending money! We arrive at 6am and move on to the Otley one at around 11am. We normally get around £120 in profit.
Best sellers are baby stuff (best if you take a clothes rail) DVD's and jewellery. Kitchen stuff also sells really well. Take a flask and some sarnies, it's freezing!

Some of the traders have come up to the carboot at the Leeds Bradford airport, its by far the largest carboot going in the west yorkshire area, on a good day 300+ sellers, even today overcast and cold there were over 200+ selling, lots and lots of buyers too, there is catering and toilets on site

Gates open for sellers @ 0500 am ! So for a good pitch its best to get there early, £8.50 Cars £12 Vans 60p entry for buyers. Normally ends around 1300,

As always its a weather dependent car boot due to been outside and on a field !

Otley defo does run all year round and a new one has just opened in Wakefield which is open all year too!
Last time I stood at Otley there was an offer on to stand Bramhope (Sat am) Pannal (Sun am) and Otley (Sun pm) or any combo of the 3 for £15 which saves quite a lot, it might be worth asking if this is still on as it saves quite a lot!
