LOL Mutter

Don't think dogs get SAD but if she has got stiffness and is uncomfortable a supplement could help. The other option is to try a magnetic collar, they've helped the old JRT and my rott wears one as he's had both his back legs operated on and as a result is likely to develope arthritus as a result.
I was given a magnetic bracelet a few years ago ( both my ankles and my knee are knackered because of childhood riding accidents) and I really notice how stiff they get if I take it off....
Right, I'm off to bed now as an early start tomorrow, just hope it's not raining:D

See this is why they should make people have dog licenses and some kind of test
You badly trained her as a puppy, now you neglect her and fail to even walk her - then you blame the poor damn dog when she tries to get your attention any way she can!
What have you done to investigate the poo problem? Why is there rubbish she can easily access? If she is mouthing too roughly why haven't you trained her? Why is she alone pooing in another room while you all watch TV? Obviously just having her killed is easier than sorting out any of that :mad:0 -

i think we have a tendency to humanise our pets, we think they are sad because they maybe hang their head lower...or walk slower. but the head is probably hanging lower because their vision is suffering and they can't see in front of them properly. they walk slower because, like us, they get a bit creaky in the bones and joints. as for the light missing from her eyes...well, my cats' eyes look dull too, and the simple reason is because he has cataracts!
if your dog had given up, she would just stop eating and go and sit alone in a corner all the time,. that's what animals do when they get sick.
i recently adopted a 14 year old siamese cat...since adopting him i have discovered that he is almost blind, has a hearing problem, has a stiff leg, oh i nearly forgot... and a heart murmur. but he still enjoys his life, and manages to run around, he eats, drinks and interacts with me as a normal cat would albeit a bit slowly and clumsily. our pets get old...it's hard to watch...especially when the grey hairs start to show on their muzzles. it's not time to say goodbye yet, stop worrying and enjoy your doggie while you can x0 -

Please do not write off old dogs - does anyone remember my post about the two old dogs I found wandering?

How dare you suggest I think getting her PTS ithe easy option! Its almost a year since she bit my son and since then I've been trying to convince myself this is the right option.
First of all, she was not badly trained as a puppy, i can assure you.
Secondly, of course
, of course I have investigated the poo problem. As i preiously stated this problem developed in 2003 when she had haemoragic dysentry. At the time the vet told us she would be likly to hae problems for the rest of her life. Believe me we have had every product on the market from stool bulking agents to activated charcoal and everything inbetween. If she eat strictly only dry dog food it is not so bad. But she steals food, only the other day did she knock my son off his chair and steal his dinner. As for rubbish, i assume you don't have a bin in you kitchen? Not only rubbish but she eats crayons, shoes, toys, toilet roll, wipes.
The main problem is she can not be trusted in the same room as my children. She snaps at them, snarls and barrs her teeth on a daily basis. So now, for safety, she doesn't get to be in the same room as them very often. If she is in the room i can't relax and an constantly on edge in my own home.
So the resentment grows, every time she gets another chance she blows it, be it trying to steal my sons sweets if she comes into the livingroom with us, or knocking them over at the park. And eerytime she does it, it makesit that little bit more difficult to give her another chance.
We are now at the stage I can't imagine the situation getting any better, I'm pregnant with twins so their will be four young children to watch. I have tried asking around friends and family if anyone would be willing to take her, but noone is. I'd be more than happy to get her rehomed, but looking at it rationally theres a lot of young dogs without half her problems that are also looking for new home.
Thank you for the suggestion of the oldies, i am going to contact them and see if they can help. The rescue centre we got her from said i could bring her back but they would just put the back in 'pound' style kennel until (and if) she was rehomed. However they had over a hundred dogs wanted rehomed at present and she said older dogs can take months to get rehomed. She was in kennels once for a week when we went on holiday and een the kennel owner said she was terrified and he would not suggest we put her in again.0 -
You've taken a whole year to decide whether or not to kill her ... ??
Wowsers! .... *hands you a medal right this minute* ... you're an example to us all.

Awww! I remember that story!!
That is absolutely brilliant!! Good ole Pepper ... doesn't cost anything to take a dog out for a game of chase or a walk and they love it, even if, as they get older, the walks have to get a bit shorter and you end up carrying em ha ha ha ... !!
Thanks for posting that pic ... was wondering how they were getting on!0
