I find it odd they didn't exchange, what was their reason?

Try another banch if you can, it really is different store to store, smoe stores are more lenient.

Aren't some sale items, no exchange or return?
So if the item is showing as one of those , it will not be possible to exchange it.
  • The only items that are no exchange or refund are the last bits of sale stock. These will all have a red dot on them.
  • Contact Trading Standards for some advice. In my experience you should be able to change the item for a different size.

Refunds and exchanges on non-faulty goods are a goodwill gesture. Stores are under no obligation to exchange or refund an item unless it is faulty which the OPs item was not. Trading standards would not be able to do anything

I don't understand the fuss about the length of the returns policy
If I'm unsure and haven't got the receipt to hand, I would just assume it was either 14 or 28 days. 90 is just a bonus.......providing you haven't lost your receipt ;)

And as for tarring all M&S, Asda, Tesco, etc staff with the same brush, I don't think they get trained to be stuck up or rude!! you just forgot to mention the staff that serve you every other day that haven't been rude  That's unfair:rolleyes:
