My best money-saving purchase has to be "lock and lock" food containers from QVC. They often have them as a TSV. I can make my own small batches of fresh fruit salad or veggie sticks and divide it up between a number of boxes and it keeps fresh for several days. I admit, I have been "sad" enough to leave one portion in the fridge in a dish (covered with cling film) just to prove to myself that lock and locks do keep food fresher for longer! They even do teeny tiny boxes that are perfect for dips. And for those not so calorie conscious, a large lock and lock keeps poppadoms fresh for AGES, so I can happily rip open a pack of 10 and just have one or two!!!!0

Aldi have decent sized bags of mixed nuts/sultanas for about 55p. I used to buy them at Tesco when the price wasn't too different but the price rocketed.0

I bought a couple of bags of frozen chicken breasts for £2.99 each at Sainsburys and they've been really nice. Bought Nando's sauce for £1.75 a bottle and put them in the oven. A cheap alternative to buying Nandos food!PMSL sliced chicken breast CHEAP lol

Sainsbury's value rice pudding (currently 18p but the price is known to fluctuate - went up from 19p to 25p 2 weeks ago and then came back down). Filling, low in fat an calories (176 per half tin), not too sweet and full of calcium. Ideal food for both you and GF.
Failing that generic supermarket cereal is guaranteed to fill you up cheaply.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Recommend heading to your local market before it closes. I usually pick up carrier bags of fruit/veg for £1 each - i.e., 5 bunches of bananas for £10

Agree with celery & carrot sticks. Seasonal fruit is quite cheap & the OP specified cheap.
I have no Walkers Baked to check but accept they are likely to be relatively high in salt
However
A typical jar of pickles with a drained weight of 400g will contain 0.8g of salt
and it is more likely to eat a max of 1/4 of a jar which is 0.2g of salt
A whole pack of pastrami contains about 1g of salt I would expect someone to eat about 1/3 of a pack this would be about 0.33g of salt
5 ryvitas contain only 0.1g of salt
1/8 of a tub of philadelphia contains 0.5g of salt this would be enough for at least 3 Ryvitas
None of the above are high in salt, yes fruit and vegtables don't contain any and so would be better,but I hope you aren't suggesting a diet of fruit and raw veg?
I do get irritated :mad: when people give advice on subjects they clearly know nothing about
