Crispbreads are normally pretty cheap and also quite healthy and a good alternative to bread. Something like Ryvita is more healthly but obviously a bit more expensive.
  • Pot of hoummus, or if cheaper make your own. Cut up some veggies to dip in it, one of my favourite snacks :D
  • Tinned sardines, mackeral, tuna etc or even tinned fruit kept in a suitable container keeps for a few days - if dried is too £

theres a variety of dips usually displayed together eg, housmous, tzatziki, taramasalta, coleslaws etc, with celery, carrot batons, cucumber sticks etc.

a bowl of cereal is what i used to have as a kid for afternoon snack before the days of all these extra junk foods!

simple egg: fried, boiled, poached, scrambled with toast

oatcakes, waffles, crumpets can be cheap too

    hth!
  • I always have a big bag of sultanas in the house, if I'm feeling peckish I just grab a handful of them.

I can eat them by the handful and they're so fattening but so very nice.

There is 6g of fat in an egg, fry it and you can add another 5g at least, and no matter which way you cook it very high in cholesterol just 1 egg contains 3 times the daily suggested maximum.

Fruit in jelly would feel more like a treat/pudding than just fruit on its own (not the tinned fruit in syrup though - mega calories).
    TOP MONEYSAVING TIP

Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!
