cheap healthy snack food?

I was wondering what foods you could get from supermarkets which you can eat as a snack regularly which is very cheap.
As things like bags of mixed fruit etc. are usually expensive etc...
I like the tortilla chips you get for 17p but not sure if it's that healthy eating too much of them?
Sainsburys has Go Ahead slices for half price at the moment which are nice but I thought about other things which are cheap all the time not just on special offer...
Any suggestions anyone?

My gf is on a diet so I'm trying to avoid eating loads of chocolate etc. (like that Sainsburys basics stuff) in front of her. If there's something we could both happily snack on that'd be great.

I don't think the processed stuff in packets, like crisps, are very healthy. They seem expensive for what you get too.

I mostly eat sandwiches, but use interesting breads and fillings, or eat some fruit.

Why buy bags of mixed fruit? Apples or bananas can be bought cheaply loose but unfortuantely not many people regard them as a suitable substitute for crisps of choc bars.
  •

Raw vegetables, such as celery, carrots, cauliflower, corn, broccoli, green pepper, green beans, cucumbers, mushrooms or Cherry tomatoes

Fresh fruit in season, cut in slices or halves, such as apples, oranges, bananas, peaches, grapefruit, grapes, melons, pears, plums or strawberries.

Lowfat yogurt with fresh, frozen or canned fruit. Frozen grapes are lovely.

Sunflower seeds, Walnuts, Air popped popcorn.

Sliced chicken breast, Hard boiled eggs...........

I like Kallo rice cakes - they have a thin layer of chocolate on them, so feel like a treat without being too bad. I have also been known to pinch some of the kids packed lunch bits - I use a lot of Organix Goodies for them (cereal bars, flavoured rice cakes, biscuits and 'crisps', all of which have no sugar, salt etc, and can be found near the baby food), and Lyme Regis fruit bars - (near the packed lunch bits).

Not sure if they fall under 'cheap', but definitely not 'expensive', especially if you can get them while on offer. The Lyme Regis bars often turn up in discount/pound shops - usually with a Disney character of some sort on the box.

I can buy a cooked chicken in tesco for just over £2 cut the breast up for sandwiches or mix up a salad for snacking on, Have the legs with another meal — boiled potatoes and salad or pasta and then pick the bones for a curry or a chicken soup.:D I easily get 3-4 meals for two people from one chicken!
