Humour doesn't work on the intarweb.

Unless you live really close to work, that seems rather inconvenient? Don't you ever want to buy things on the way home? Or do you just use cash?
Why would I want to buy something I hadn't budgeted for or planned in advance? Gosh that wouldn't be very moneysaving!!!

Fair enough. I guess I just like to be able to buy petrol when it's needed (which doesn't mean it's not budgeted). (You might not have a car, of course, or maybe you just fill it up regularly rather than just when it needs it.)

Still, I'm probably not as good at budgeting as I should be, and perhaps taking my CC to work means I never will be! :-)

I have a motorbike which I fill up with £10 of petrol every 3 weeks. :) But my commute is only 5 miles per day. When I see I am low on petrol I transfer £10 into my current account so I can buy petrol on my way home! All I use that debit card for is my lunch money and that :) So even if it gets nicked by some unscrupulous colleague the most they are gonna get is £20.

You CAN budget for everything, it's possible.

Abbey let you have Visa Debit and Visa Electron cards on the same account, so she could keep one at work and one at home. Also handy for booking cheap flights on budget airlines...
  • If she leaves her bag in her locker, presumably that means she'd also be leaving her mobile phone and house keys at work?

  • I think we need to know just how big this office is though if it takes 15 minutes to retrieve something?! Has she relocated to the Burj Tower or something?!

Why take the cards to work in the first place?

If she is considering leaving them in the locker overnight, then she obviously doesn't need them to pay for shopping on the way home, so just leave them at home to start with. Problem solved.

Had a quick glance over the posts and can't see anybody suggesting this.

Why not just say the existing card is damaged or cracked?

Unless it's lost or stolen all they will do is send out a replacement with the same card number and expiry date etc.
