Can we pregnant ladies go in a hot tub/jacuzzi? I've never been in one before but where we're going on hols in a few weeks has them so I thought I'd best ask.

I know we can't use saunas and steam rooms (aren't they the same thing?).

Ok need to edit my answer - kinda depends... where are you going on hols?

Found a couple of sites and one states that it should be avoided, most others state you should ONLY go in IF:
You know it's definitely clean - to avoid picking up infections. Personally I can think of a lot of countries where I'd not want to hop in the water (ie where I wouldn't drink the water out of the tap either...) despite chlorine.
You make sure you keep the temperature down - personally I haven't been in a hot tub that has been so hot that I'd compare it to one of my baths so that wouldn't be a huge concern for me... But try to make sure it's not too hot :)

Elle I think bubbles are ok in jacuzzi but if its "hot" then the heat debate starts

In general you are not supposed to stay in a jacuzzi for more than 20mins or so. If it were me I'd pop in the jacuzzi for 10mins or sit on the side with just my feet in

Thanks Sami and Tine :) I knew it was something about the heat, but as I've not been in one before I don't know how hot they usually are..

I'm going to a mini-CentreParcs type place in Derbyshire, staying in a pinelodge :)

Tine - you'd be better off drinking the water in some dodgy countries than that from a jacuzzi in the UK :D My friend used to work in a posh gym in liverpool (where the footballers and WAGs went) she used to test the water for doing the chlorine levels etc and said there was usually at least twice as much urine in the jacuzzi as in the kids pool _pale_

Grrr.. I definitely need another new bra! Was a 34D, am now wearing a 36D and I think I ought to be getting a 36DD. Will be rivalling my sister if this carries on - she's a 32H! (and never been pregnant)

Btw, advice for the newly pregnant, don't do anything time critical when you're in the first few weeks of the tiredness and nausea. All those things I ordered from the Next sale are still in my spare room, unopened and I've now missed the deadline to send them back if they don't fit.. argh!! I just haven't had the energy to get up and try them all on, let alone package them all up again and take them back to the post office :( They'll be going on ebay eventually, methinks.. *sigh*

I did that once, only I put them in the car and forgot about them! I took them back to store and the girl took pitty on me and said she'd take them back just this once :T
