At least a significant proportion of your cinema money didn't go towards funding UKIP.

Wouldn't especially mind if it did, they have their place in politics, especially as other parties have purged anyone who is opposed to the EU.

Although neither Tim Martin nor JD Wetherspoons appears on the Register of Donors under UKIP, despite the longstanding rumour.
Hurrah, now I have more thankings than postings, cheers everyone!

I had a pint, three sausages, chips, and beans. £3.28 all in.

I suppose it would be similar to drinking in a working mens club and the money going to fund the labour party or a pint in the conservative club.

I guess that's true, but the 99p bottles of San Miguel were sold out in all 3 of the Wetherspoons we went to :P
99p bottles of San Miguel, providing it is the import stuff is worth it.
Sadly, though, I think the small bottles are the UK manufactured rubbish and only the large bottles are imported.

A weekend bender in four locations and 17 solid hours of drinking.

Miss your nights out since the baby was born by any chance?

It was a stag do, so there's a small excuse for it :P

All I know is that it was cheap and wet, and they didn't have any left :P

I totally agree with this. People with a higher income who pay more tax appear to be sensible. The reality is that people on benefits still have the same amount of money, and spend it accordingly

Hmmm, well as a person on benefits, I can assure you that my money is not the same as my bills have increased from what they were say this time last year...my money has not.

I also think of myself as pretty sensible, I don't waste money on frivolous things, so could you possibly change your people on benefits statement to SOME people on benefits, same as some people with a higher income instead of people on a higher income?

In fact, my outlook to spending has not changed from when I was earning a high amount...I was a tight begger back then too! :D

The last time I was in a pub? Blimey, has to be 2 years ago.
Last time I was drunk? Eeekkk, 4 years ago I think (I blame my Scottish friends for that, they encouraged me by giving me lots of lovely wine :D )
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Unlike my good self, most 'normal' people seem to just get on with thier lives and have confidence all will turn out ok, or that if it doesn't they'll worry about it then.

I know I keep banging on about the pessimist bent in many of us drawn to these forums, but I think it's relevant to the debate, and why some of us are incredulous life seems to go depsite all the gloom. In other words we have a narrow and possibly quite scewed take on reality.

I think people still going to bars and pubs for the atmosphere and to be social, but spending less (eating at home so no bar snacks, having a couple of drinks beforehand or making drinks last longer etc).

I think restaurants are suffering more, we went last weekend and it was empty aprt from one other table. The only ones that looked half full was Prezzo and Pizza Express, which had 2 for 1 deals going on.
I think people are downgrading a peg or two. Those who went to fancy restaurants now go to ordinary ones. Those who went to ordinary ones, now go to Pizza Hut/Express. Those who went for Pizza, now go to the chippy. :D

Went out for a meal last night... Went to a harvester first (hardly luxury dining, but not too bad) and it was packed out so we gave that a miss.

Went to a Brewers Fayre next, and it wasn't too bad, but still pretty busy.

All of the 'posh' hotels/restaurants we passed around Gerrards Cross/Beaconsfield looked pretty empty though...
