I guess that's true, but the 99p bottles of San Miguel were sold out in all 3 of the Wetherspoons we went to :P

Spoons kinda got a bit more pricey IMO, I mean not nearly as much as a club..but not that differant to any other pub from my experiance, so i guess that have brought back a few loss leaders ... which is nice :)

The nearest pub to me is on the village green surrounded by "expensive houses", it is empty in the week now. a bit further on on near the station is the "estate pub" ( vibrant, but friendly ) and this is still just as busy in the week and packed at weekends.

I totally agree with this. People with a higher income who pay more tax appear to be sensible. The reality is that people on benefits still have the same amount of money, and spend it accordingly

I went out last weekend for the first time since my baby was born, and we went to York, Bradford, Halifax and Leeds.

Interesting that you say it is more like 9pm, we were out from 11am until 4am the next day, and everywhere was packed the whole time...

A weekend bender in four locations and 17 solid hours of drinking.

Miss your nights out since the baby was born by any chance?

here's one for the daily mail/princess of our hearts crowd - one of our busiest ever nights was the night Princess Diana died!

Strange you should say that as my wife was a waitress for about 5 years in her younger days in a very busy restaurant / bar and even after working many new year's eve nights and Christmas eves, she maintains that the night when Diana died was the busiest night she has ever worked.

I went to Wetherspoons on Tuesday night. I had a pint, three sausages, chips, and beans. £3.28 all in.

Now the cinema last night on the other hand, £18.70 for tickets (2 for 1), a thing of popcorn, and two drinks. And that was full too.
Hurrah, now I have more thankings than postings, cheers everyone!

They were in the process of changing the name to Pasta Hut when I was in !!!!!!'s neck of the woods a couple of weeks back (that Grand Central shopping arcade by Stockport train-station). We went ten-pin-bowling there whilst waiting for a delayed train to arrive, and even though it was £10 EACH for 1 game - which I won in about 25 mintues, the place was packed-out with families there with kids.. most of the lanes in use.

Shopping in Stockport, Pizza Hut and bowling.

I actually understand now Dopester why you are looking forward to an social apocalypse so much.

'Pasta Hut'. They think we're stupid don't they?
  • You cant blame people for wanting to go out and enjoy themselves in times of doom and gloom. Otherwise they are going in there to nick the cutelry..hahaha

At least a significant proportion of your cinema money didn't go towards funding UKIP.

What about the people who have been tossed out of work and just joined the dole.
In reality the people with jobs have got more money to spend, reduced VAT, mortgages, oil, energy food so I am not sure what the point of the thread is
