I find sosmix and burgermix nauseating. I always found Linda McCartney to be awful too, but decided to give her another go a couple of days ago. I won't be repeating the experience!
Redwood sausages are very nice. Frys do some which are not too bad, and I discovered Vegetarian's Choice in H&B the other day which are fine (I'll happily use them in a sausage casserole).0 -
Hi all, well my sponge fairy cakes are baking nicely in the oven (thanks, Justamum for the recipe) but I forgot to add the oil (I did say baking wasn't my forte) and my breadmaker's on (minus the milk powder) so keeping my fngers crossed. I have tried Lm sos but I'm not overly keen, however I do like her vegan meat pies, does anyone know if she does vegan burgers? I will give the sos and burger mix a go and see how I get on with them, it's not that I eat things like that all the time but when it's bbq time and my oh has hotdog or burger I really fancy the same sort of idea and the tivall hotdogs and burgers were just perfect, there are many vege burgers/sausages that I just can not stand. I also keep meaning to try Scheese, I have had a tub in my fridge for ages but a bit scared to try it in case I hate it. Has anyone tried the Sainsbury’s kiddies sweets? all these ones are vegan - Fizzy strawberry lances, Fizzy cola lances, strawberry laces, flying saucers, strawberry pencils, fizzy rainbow belts, I bought a zillion packets the other day....not good for my waistline.

Hiya
I made vegan ice cream yesterday and it was really easy and turned out yummy so thought I would share it with you all.
1 can coconut milk
250 ml Soya milk
100g- 120 g sugar ( preferabely brown/raw cane )
1 -2 teasp Vanila extract
All you do is mix the lot together.Taste to make sure it is sweet enough and then put it in the freezer. Take out every 40 mins and stir again and keep repeating this every 40 mins .
In about 6 hours time it should be set.
CHOCOLATE CHIP- just add chocolate chips or finely broken choccie at start.
MINT CHOC CHIP- as above but add PEPPERMINT essence instead of vanilla.
STRAWBERRY - add 650 g ( or as much as you want ) fresh or frozen strawberrys and about another 10g sugar at the start.
Welcome Zahava hope your cakes turn out ok and you find lots more goodies to eat.I like munching on frys chocolate creams as they are vegan, also aldi and lidl often do vegan choccie.
The guy at my local vegetarian store recommended wicken fen sausages, some of them are vegan. They were sold out so I have yet to try them yet as Im pretty fussy about sausages.0 -

wow that chocolate cake looks fab, and in a microwave too...just my sort of recipe
My sponge fairy cakes were ok but a little dry (I forgot the oil) and my icing was too thick and didn't set properly, in all fairness it's the first time I've baked cakes in years, so not a bad first attempt. The bread was fine without the milk powder so I'm happy with that although next time I may try the soya flour that kafkathecat suggested. Kim_ley, I love falafel, I use a lovely mix made by Telma (it is vegan and usually found in the kosher section) I can really recommend it, you just add water, roll in to little balls and fry, sometimes I add my own little bits to it like peppers, onions, chillies, fresh corriander etc. to jazz it up a bit, the thing I miss is the mint yoghurt to have with it, I'm using tahini at the moment but it's not quite right, what sort of sauce do you have with yours? I have made a mint sauce from yofu but there's something I'm not keen on about that. Do you make your falafels from scratch? if so do you have a good recipe? I've never tried. Hope your results come through ok, smear tests aren't a pleasant experience are they? Unfortunately a necessary unpleasantness and if they catch things quick enough they’re generally curable, I keep putting mine off and forgetting about it but you’ve reminded me again to go.

Love this thread, I'm going vegan for a month straight from meat eating to try new foods and to see what being vegan is like, may or may not stick with it but here goes. Been cooking lots of vegan food from scratch, and must say so far I have realised that pizza is nicer without cheese, soy coffee creamer is yummy and Swedish Glace vanilla flavour is lovely with fresh strawberries. Also vegan jambalaya is amazing.0

After I had my CT scan yesterday I needed a pick me up. My partner and I went to Bluewater and went to Crussh juice bar and he bought me a green goddess juice (kiwi, apple, pear, lime, cucumber, spinach, celery) with a spirulina booster as well as wheatgrass shot. Now I begrudge the fact that it cost him over £4 for this  but it was REALLY good
and hey at least it was healthy :rotfl:. I will be using my own juicer to make the green goddess juice for sure
.
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -
Hi there
Hows everyone getting on with this?
I used to be veggie, but for several reasons, not least of which was due to having a share in a small fishing boat, lapsed about ten years ago. For many reasons (including health and ethics) I decided this weekend to go vegan (which is a little bit of a pain, cos I have quite a lot of meat in the freezer, but the kids will get through that, slowly - they want no part of veganism or even vegetarianism!)
I think it would be great if people were to post what their meals are on a daily basis (or weekly, if you are that organised!) for inspiration for both vegans new and old and non-vegans that are interested in a varied diet!
Seeing as I suggested it, I'll start.
Yesterday for breakfast I had toast with pure margerine and lemon/lime marmalade. I didn't really bother with lunch, just had a bag of crisps and some fruit. For dinner I made chickpea burgers (first time I have made them for ages, they were SO good!) with salad and oven chips.
I'm not working today, and I have some stuff to use up, so I am planning to do a bit of cooking. I have bananas to use up, so banana muffins, apples past their best, so apple crumble (as requested by my son).
I am going to make a 'quiche' using tofu, maybe asparagus, I haven't totally decided yet, for dinner tonight, served with salad and maybe a baked potato.
Leek and potato soup, so I have something for lunch at work on Thursday and Friday - we do get a packed lunch free at work, but the veggie choices are always cheese or egg. I'll continue to order them though, as its free and OH will eat them!
My fridge and freezer are packed at the moment, if I can clear a space I might also make a lasagne for tomorrows dinner.
I'd love to hear what anyone else is doing... please post!0 -
Great idea.
breakfast: oats, coconut and grape juice (+flax oil)
lunch: soya chai steamer from AMT and home made muffins
tea: pasta with tomato and chilli sauce and chickpeas
not one of my best days...
today...I don't know yet but I had the same breakfast.
