Hi Justamum
Yes, ELO fan! Have very happy memories of my brother playing his blue vinyl single of Mr Blue Sky - it makes me smile every time I hear it0 -
Hiah,
If any of you use soft silken tofu, you may want to see if you can get soybean pudding from a chinese supermarket.
See my blog for details.

Hope this might help someone. Obviously its not sold as a substitute, I just thought i'd try it!

and for reference, shouldn't cost more than around £1.50. Depending, of course whether youa re near a chinese supemrakret or not. I imagine it would be cheaper in the bigger cash & carries.

Just ate a soya yogart and then looked at the use-by date (4th March), the yogart was fine, (even though it had been out of the fridge since last night when I took it out and forgot about it). Do soya yogarts go off?
Also just bought some "mock chicken - braised bean curd" from the chinese supermarket - has anyone tried this? Removed it from the tin and it looks a little too meat-like0 -

I had mock duck at Christmas which I'd guess from your shock to the mock chicken is very similar. It is rather nice but too over processed for my liking or for me to have to often if I'm honest. I stir fried it (yes I know not very Christmassy but to be frank I’m not a Christmas kind of person) and yes it is supposed to look the way it does! Don’t let that put you off too much as the texture is most likely nothing like it’s animal counterpart (I wouldn‘t remember though as it has been SOO long since I‘ve eaten anything from an animal).
I had a completely 100% raw day yesterday and I did love it. I consumed the following yesterday.
Breakfast: green smoothie. It had spinach, pineapple, strawberries, raspberries, apple, banana, mango, ground raw almond, omega oil (the one I bought is cold pressed so raw), raw wheat germ (it’s the kind I buy anyway) and enough water to make a nice consistency.
Snack: raw dates, sun dried apricots, and sun dried gogi berries.
Dinner: sprouted quinoa, sprouted lentils, tomatoes, cucumber and lettuce.
Drinks: water and fresh orange juice.
I probably should have eaten more but I wasn’t all that hungry. I enjoyed what I ate immensely and stopped when I was full.
So far today has been 100% raw as well (don‘t know if it will continue to be though lol). I don’t know if I will become 100% raw but I am hoping to be, as I have said before, around 80% raw which I’ve been reading could mean I would be considered a raw vegan by some people! “Sometimes the definition of a raw vegan diet is loosened to include vegan diets with at least 75% raw foods.” Which is strange but kind of cool at the same time, although I‘ll still only call myself a vegan as to be a raw vegan I‘d personally have to be 100% raw.
Since upping my raw foods I’m loving everything. I naturally get up around 6-8 am now (had a lay in today until 9am hehe) while going to sleep around 11 pm- midnight. Before I would stay up for a whole day or more at a time and sleep around 6 hours so I’d be awake at odd times! My body wakes up naturally when it should, I eat when I’m hungry and I have so much energy. I’m not saying raw food is the only way to achieve this, indeed I’m sure cutting out processed foods could cause a similar response in people also, but it has sure helped me.
Long post I now and I'm sorry about that. If you read all of my post thank you very much.
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -
Well I just ate the scarey looking mock chicken - it was very nice (in a stirfry with green veg and rice noodels). I cut it up very thinly so it didn't look as meaty!0

I'm hoping you can all help me... my boss has just returned from sick leave, and we thought we should take him out for a meal. As he is vegan (and the rest of the team are dyed in the wool carnivores, but that's tough!), I need to find a decent vegan restaurant in/near Windsor/Maidenhead/Bray... Any suggestions would be welcomed!0

Sparklewing, please don`t despair, after all "to err is human".
We are vegetarian but trying to be completely vegan, it isn`t always easy. My son`s girlfriend has been a vegan for most of her life, and even she says sometimes it isn`t always possible, she has to be content with vegetarian fare.
We tried the Redwood Cheezly last week, the cheddar style. We liked it, it does taste a little different, but in a butty with tomato etc, we found it to be really nice.
I think the hardest thing for me to give up is butter, I can`t find a vegan substitute that I like to use as a spread. I have bought a book of vegan recipes and that seems to make cupcakes etc with oil, so that may be the way to go. Dunno what I will spread on my toast though!

Not sure about a vegan/veggie restaurant but if you are stuck pizza express or ask pizza bases and tomatoe sauce are vegan - just ask for pizza with no cheese (they usually let you have an extra topping instead).0
