I buy Meridian peanut butter in the HFS, it comes in a big tub that lasts us a month or two -- this is the cheapest peanut butter I've found anywhere. (I'm American so we eat a lot of peanut butter in our house!). It also has no added salt or sugar and comes in crunchy or creamy versions.
I bought a tub of this two weeks ago - and had to buy another one today!!! I only buy it when it's reduced (it was £2.59) otherwise it works out too expensive. I do have to tip it out into a bowl and mix it up though because it's separated.0 -

Sounds similar to the whole earth peanut butter we buy. It comes in a giant tub That has a carrying handle!I just fill up a small jar for everyday use. We also eat a lot- though not as much as my brother, he goes through one of these giant tub's in 3 weeks!

I'm interested in what you are all saying about nut butters. I really must try cashew and almond butters.
I was wondering if anyone has tried sunflower seed butter? My dd is allergic to peanuts so we can't have peanut butter in the house but I hear sunflower seed butter is a really good substitute. Anyone any experience of it?0 -

We used sunflower seed butter for awhile -- my daughter wanted peanut butter sandwiches in her lunchbox, but peanuts and nuts are not allowed at school. It tasted fine, but was a bit expensive, then for awhile we couldn't find it anywhere. So I started using tahini which is sesame seed butter and much more widely available -- Indian groceries have it as well as the big supermarkets which have ethnic cooking sections. You can get either whole seed tahini, which is dark brown, or hulled sesame seed tahini which is a much lighter colour. I've used both and my daughter hasn't commented on any difference in the taste.0 -

Thanks for the info though;)0 -
Hi Kim Ley
B12 is made by fermenting bacteria. Yummy. Many people believe that you can get enough from unwashed vegetables which is where animals get theirs but I have known people to become deficient with no food sources. It takes a while though as you can store 4 years worth in you body.0 -

Today I am mainly recommending Divine Fairtrade mint dark chocolate. YUM.
It does say may contain traces of milk though so suppose it depends how strict you are. It's listed on their website as vegan though.0 -
