I use Pure. They do 3 different kinds. Soya, organic soya and sunflower.
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D
  • Good morning!

kim_ley - congrats on getting into veganism so fast. Your falafal balls sound yummy! I'm pretty sure you can use animalfreeshopper for free (you just ahve to sign up) but if not I tend to use this for food (but abviously its not terribly helpful with anything else).

Its got lists of all the e-numbers and what they're made of as well as things about food production and such interesting nuggets of information.

    Hope thats helpful.

Falafels sound good, will have to add the recipe to my 'to make' folder!!

Margarines from supermarkets:Pure (organic, soya, sunflower), Vitalite (non organic, omega 3 orgainic and organic ),Sainsburys so organic olive spread, M & S sunflower.
Margarines from health food stores: biona (several types), tomor (block and sunflower), suma (organic sunflower, organic soya)

There is a lot that look like they could be vegan, but don't give the source of vitamin D and most probably is the one that comes from lanolin. D2 is the vegan source.
Cereals are the same, if you see vitamin D, they are usually not vegan. Luckily there is lots without and suitable for vegans.
    Hope this helps.

There is a vegan lasagne recipe in

    I can't believe it's .....vegan!

This is a recipe booklet produced by animal aid and i think its free. There is a online version however.
    http://www.animalaid.org.uk/images/pdf/booklets/icant.pdf

    Recipe on page 16/17

I have tried the recipe and thought it was ok. However I have never tried the meat version or any other ones to know how it compares. Must try it agan, as I have the lasagne sheets left over still.

Goodies bars which my son (and me haha) have been enjoying for ages are also vegan and I especially love the carrot cake ones or and cocoa and rasin
Perhaps other things so look out for them (they are for kids but i think i will eat them too lol)

I love the organix range as the stuff looks naughty but there is no rubbish in them. The carrot and coriander chipstix are yummy!!! :D

Thanks for all the lasagne tips. I managed to finally get to H&B and GNC today and have got lots of goodies. I've just tried a cheezly salad roll and a tofutti herb and chives salad roll, they were both lovely . I also got a powdered vegan cheese sauce, I wish I'd checked on here first and seen the tip about the white sauce and nutritional flakes (which I also got) but it wont go to waste. I even treated myself to a tofutti soya chocolate frozen dessert :D
Murrell your blogs great, lots of good info there, I've saved it in my favs and will check it often.
