Can I ask for your help please ladies and gents.

Once Bean arrives we are going to spell his or her name out in padded letters on the wall. I was hoping to be able to find wooden or polystyrene letter shapes that I could then cover with wadding and fabric but have had no luck. Any ideas where I can get some anyone?

    Thanks

Luc - What do you get if you g00gle "wooden alphabet", I just got this site - which looks like it has a selection but obviously I don't know exactly what you're after or what you want to spend

There were lots of other but this caught my eye

What about using wire to make letters, like old wire hangers or something?

Don't think it would be robust enough. If I can't get the shapes I will just make the letters in fabric and stuff them. I'm just trying to avoid using the sewing machine...

In many ways C sections are better and safer for baby if distressed, no bleeding afterwards in my case (never needed my nappy pads!) no delivering plancenta, no cutting or stretching of your bits and pieces, no squished heads on babies....

but recovery for mum can be longer of course... depends on your own pain thresholds i guess....

I would certainly have another cesarian if i was ever to have another... which is never BTW....!

Edit - too posh to push me!?

Was yours planned? I wonder if it make a difference to how you cope and deal with things.

As mine was an emergancy one (was induced and baby went into complete distress) it was all a bit  . They'd tried forceps to she's got the squished, bruised head to go with it too.

Was the thing I was most worried about with DD2, really didn't want to go through another section, espeically under epidural.....in the end it didn't matter - had DD2 in 1hr26mins.....nurse was just out the room to get the pethadine and I screamed for her to "get back here now"....she didn't have chance to put her gloves on :D

Luc - have you looked on ebay? I know I'd saved some links to some on my old laptop - I'll have a root around and see what I can find - how big are you looking for?

how about making them from stiff card and covering? You could have a look around for a font you like and get it blown up to the size you need to use as a template.

I have a horror of c-sections because of the trouble it has caused my Mum over the years after they botched hers but I guess things have moved on.

Can you believe my biggest worry about a c-section (other than Mum's history) is that I won't be able to train for the 10k in May...

Oh and Maz, Jinky - RFL is now open for entries...

Re the 10k - good point, well made!!

You'll be alright babes, you'll have a textbook birth, i just know it!! (you can quote me on that later!)

That has been added to my crafting favourites - what a fantastic site!!! Can't believe I never found any of these the other night when I was looking. Was probably being too precise. I'm not very good at googling for stuff...:o

Maz- the Glasgow RFL is on Sunday 7 June - is that too close to Leeds?
