Mozzarella and Pregnancy???

Does anyone know it its ok to eat Mozzarella when you are pg? Got a friend coming round for dinner and want to make sure its ok. Its reduced fat one from Tesco and all it says on the packet is soft cheese no mention of pasturised or not.

  • i am over 7 months pregant and i still eat it and havent had any problems
  • Amazing isn't it...they change the lists of do's and dont's when you are pregnant as often as the weather!! Every time someone graduates wih a PHD they seem to come out with something else that we shouldnt do or eat!! How many times have they changed their minds about alcohol and pregnancy?????

My mum told me a few days ago that when she was pregnant with me, she was told not to eat potatos with eyes as they were poisonous to the unborn baby!!!!

TBH I took no notice of any so called lists when I had mine ( in the last year), I ate what my body decided it could handle.....I was lucky enough to have a midwife who told me just to be sensible and said that she had lost track of what I should and shouldnt eat as she had been doing it so long!! She said she thought that nearly every food type on the planet had been on the list at one point or another!!!

I think if we all took notice of all so called forbidden foods and danger warnings, we'd all be living in little sterile bubbles....

They say your not allowed whippy ice cream when pregnant!! Criminal!!!

Like the other poster when I was pregnant with my two the only thing i made a real effort to avoid was peanuts just in case. The rest i just ate what i wanted within reason, but then im not an eater of pate, fancy cheeses etc anyway.

Before I agreed to marry Mr SWMBO, I told him that when I was pregnant I would NOT be giving up runny yolks. I went right off brie, so was fine with avoiding that.:rotfl:
  • hi,
i have a 2 yr old & 3 yr old & ate tonnes of mozzarella whilst pregnant,
    no problems.
    enjoy it.

i avoided brie/camembert except for the odd bit in case they were unpasteurised but then someone told me that the french dont stop eating it when pregnant.
& a friend of mine was pregnant in japan eating sushi/raw fish which is really good for you, unless its not fresh.........

    I've been Money Tipped!
The only thing i would add is be careful if you have a history of atopic eczema or asthma in the family and avoid high-allergenic foods; I ate a few eggs a week when pregnant with DS2 and, guess what, he's allergic to egg ..

They've recently changed the recommended caffeine intake as well - I think from 300mg to 250mg .

To be honest, I think I've been a bit more relaxed this time around and have eaten pretty much what I have fancied. I have eaten Stilton and Brie cheeses, but have cooked them in sauces (as suggested by the MW) and there is no way I would give up on a dippy egg, unless I'm eating out and don't know the history of said egg.

The only thing I've been really good about is alcohol - not touched a drop since I found I was pregnant....although I don't think I should polish my halo as it's because I cannot stomach the taste of it, rather than abstaining due to junior!
