oh I see, thanks for clearing that up for me! :)
  • What I have heard is that those earning 80 miles/£2.50 will change to 60 miles/£2.50 and those earning 60 miles/£2.50 will get 50 miles/£2.50, wanting this confirmed before I got all annoyed I e-mailed them and this is their reply

So I'm still none the wiser as to what exactly is happening but do know something is "happening" :(.

OK just got 'the letter'. It confirms the changes in the miles earned as stated above but says that because we are getting the double points we are still better of than we were *rollseyes*. Anyhow we've got until the 1st September to change them to keep the old rate.

Yes, you are O.K. to use them in Strada. Tried and tested.

Good. Going to change all the vouchers I get now which should be enough for the wanted tickets and get out of Airmiles collecting fever I think.

I already have 516 airmiles which I collected from clubcard vouchers, but last week I opened accounts with BA Executive Club and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club because I like the idea of frequent flights with those airlines leading to potential for upgrades in flight classes. I just got £10.50 of clubcard vouchers in the mail, and I'm wondering whether to convert these into Airmiles or into BA Miles? I'd rather travel to places like North America, the Far East, and other far flung areas if that helps, and when I searched here I found one discussion that Airmiles are only good for short-haul trips, is that still the consensus?

The easiest way to find out is to go to your Airmiles account and input whatever journey you have in mind and see how many points needed it will show and availabillity - if you try several dates months in advance and nothing comes up I would stay away.

Airmiles are as good on long haul as on short haul, but I believe there are certain destinations difficult to obtain as the flights are always full. It is the same problem with BA miles though.

I also received my letter today and I picked up on them mentioning that as double points has been so popular with our customers and we want to keep it going and to ensure that everyone continues to benefit being the reason for the adjustment to airmiles. Therefore am I being hopeful that double points are infact not going to stop as planned this summer as most people are expecting this sept after the doubling up in store finishes.

Yes I noticed that too, I wonder if they will reduce some of the other rewards though or are they just doing it to the airmiles? :(

I think you might be on the right track Any has posted on the necter thread something similar I have just read. Looks like changes are afoot I normally use my vouchers towards holidays in the past but these now have restrictions. Then used them for merlin annual passes yet they last year offered a renewal price of £75 but unfortunately had already ordered the tesco deal so was in effect only x 2 value and we now change vouchers into restaurant deals and again most of the places you can get 2 for 1 deals etc any way but I still think it is still better than just using them on shopping as we did when they were originally introduced before deals. I think that the restaurants are doing so many deals due to the recession and people not being able to afford to go out and eat as often as before. That is why we have changed vouchers for meal deals for while we are on holidays this summer to save money eating out. My neice used to work at a zoo and she said that they got very little money for the clubcard customers so they probably rely on the customer spending money in the park. Restaurants probably bank on you buying lots of drinks where the mark up is.
