I would either telephone them or write to them.

Are you swapping to another MBNA product or just closing it?

Sorry its took so long to reply.

I opened the account with the £100 deposit, and after 6 months they refused to upgrade the account even though there were no late payments etc.

So I decided I may as well close the account and get the £100 back, which is proving harder than I expected.

I've called them, written to them, send them messages via online banking and every person I speak to either doesn't know what I'm talking about - or tells me something completely different which is usually wrong.

I got a letter from them on the 17th March saying I'd receive a cheque within 7-10 days refunding the money, when this didn't arrive they said the money would be credited to my closed account on the 28th March and could then be moved into my bank account. This hasn't happened, and now no one I speak to can help because they don't know what this account is and its just showing as being a closed account.

I'm at the end of my tether with them now, and just can't see how I'm going to get my money back with them - if this was the other way round and I owed them money no doubt they'd be on the phone constantly to me and adding on charges to my account! Wish I could charge them for keeping my money! so frustrating!

Anyone any ideas how I can get this back??

Start the complaints process and if that fails go to the Financial Ombudsman

I can't put in a compaint as they only take calls between 9-5 monday to friday and I can't make personal calls at work

I can't believe how hard it is just to get the deposit back from them!

Thanks, will try sending another letter to that address.

Its so frustrating that no one at MBNA seems to know anything about this type of account.

If you have no joy with this go straight to step 3 and if that fails contact the Ombudsman

Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.
