    As I said with my brother it was weird, as below;

    1. He applied
    2. Got declined
    3. He appealed
    4. They sent CCA and letter of approval
    5. He returned expecting card to come
    6. Month later he rung and got told they decline him
    7. He wrote back arguing this was wrong cos he'd been told he'd been accepted
    8. They wrote back saying sorry, not eligible
    9. Then a card arrived around 11 weeks after 1st applying
    10. Card is dead as the account was never officially opened

Take from that what you will but i'd say wait until you get the card before banking on it going through. It seems that when you return the CCA they do another check on you.

Like with me, I started with 2 grand limit then dropped and now at 1 grand cos they check equifax monthly.
They seem very slap dash but now they have searched me I will appeal out of princapal

  • Ohh ok, I just opened Littlewoods and Empire. I have Vanquis aswell. What are HSBC like with approving loans? I was thinking of requesting a 2k loan.

Did they approve you an O/D or CC?

    Was you pre-approved?

    Sorry to ask 21 questions......

    thanks

do you bank with HSBC? I started with their basic bank account when my situation was v bad. after a while i (about 18 months I think)went in to ask if i could upgrade to current account. Expected them to laugh me out the door but they upgraded me, gave me O/D, cheque book, CC etc. i then applied in branch for a loan, approved straight away. I think HSBC are good if you run your account well, they will give you a chance if you show you can manage your account. I can't have a CC with them for a while as it was part of the agreement of my loan that I have no further lending for a while. That ends in aug this year so hopefuly will get mainstream cc from them then,

p.s sorry for any typo's - am knackered and also on 3rd glass of vino!!

I have a current account with them for a few years..

Was it a managed loan they gave you?

I am shocked they offered you CC & O/D with 3 defaults.

Did they make you get rid of your O/D when you got the loan
