I can't get a CG card with my Halifax account. When I applied back in 07 I only applied for the debit card apparently. The only way I can get a cheque guarantee card is by applying for a brand new account.

Have you asked if you can open an additional account. Then use that for spends and your current one for bills.

They may give you a cheque facility on the new account.

    Why?

I thought you're aloud up too 3 additional accounts with the Halifax?

They give you a £3600 OD, but not an additional account.

Each account has to be credit scored and obviously I failed. It is odd they won't give me that but will give me a £3.5k OD

    Extremely odd.

If you receive your Tesco card, are you going to close Vanquis or leave it for emergencies?

I hardly ever use my Vanquis but was overjoyed when I got it so I might keep it just in case
