No you do not need to send originals. They may write back asking for them, they'd only do so if they couldn't verify you. Talking of which, read here:

Note the pink text -[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, Geneva, Swiss, SunSans-Regular]copy [/FONT] - this tells you factually they accept copies.

No probs they will still process but they will write back asking for originals, I got letter today. Ive wrote back saying nope, not necessary as they have a certified copy of my passport. the moment I got that certified was the moment their request for an original went pop!
