The 'perfume' from one of the gift packs bears a remarkable resemblance to bug spray.

Nope, I'm sorry. It HAS to go in the bin. :o

Could you not use it as an air freshner in the loo I leave old perfumes in there or is it just too bad!

can i ask a question, is it just me or is anyone else feeling they aren't using stuff up quick enough. i know i've got thru quite a bit this month, but when i look at whats left, ifeel despair that some of it will take months to get thru, am i mad???????

hey no rush! just as long as you're using it up BEFORE you buy more stuff that's all

wouldn't be very OS to use everything up quick as possible if it meant overusing or overeating now would it? ;)

If the perfume is still nearly full give it to a charity shop they sell this sort of thing.

Both DS's decided to have a growth spurt so clothes have been passed on to a friends littlun and we have inherited some bigger stuff from a friend.

Discovered I have NO CONDITIONER  but before rushing out to buy some I found a bottle of tangle spray I have had over a year, ds got it for me as a birthday present LOL, so I will use that instead.

The foundation sachet was ok, the rimmel then the other one i forgot the name of, but estee lauder had to come straight off again - looked like i'd been tangoed.

Finally got round to using some of the original source stuff i got from a Zest magazine sub. gift. I am going to use some of my soap I have stashed away for my next batch of laundry gloop, rather than buying plain soap it should be quite nice with lavender soap!
The kids like the chutney, pickles and thai salad dressing which was lurking in the fridge. Whatever I do i can't get them to eat the tiger power cereal leftovers in the cupboard. Looks like we may have a few pasta based things next week. Still got some alphabetti pasta from a trip to spain 3 years ago!!! :(
Even doing the 'use up' principle on my clothes, I am wearing a pink sequinned bra today which hasnt seen the light of day for ages, but thats another story...

what kind of plastics are they taking?

our council has provided us not only with a paper recycling bin (we live in a block of flats) but a larger bin for cardboard, envelopes, drinks bottles, tetrapaks etc but we can only put in the plastic from drinks bottles and milk as far as i can tell

Most plastic shampoo bottles, cleaning stuff milk and pop bottles in fact the only stipulation is NO marg or yoghurt tubs. I went to Tesco today and they had no signs up re: what is not accepted.
    Hope this helps :T
  • so far we've made an inventory of the cupboards and freezer. i haven't made an inventory of toiletries yet. we have millions of stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!! the only thing we are buying anymore is deoderant as we have loads of everything else.

so far i have finished a bottle of cillit bang, mr muscle all purpose cleaner, a tin of gloss paint and a tin of antique pine varnish.

we emptied and tided our two garden sheds and have found loads of stuff we needed for our current diy projects, so this will save us loads of money.

think i might take a leaf from sarahsaver's book and start pampering myself more to use up some of my many beauty products.

p.s if you find foundation is too dark mix it with some moisturiser for hm tinted moisturiser.

thanks, and thanks to squeaky too,
i guess i was just feeling overwhelmed with the amount of stuff i have squirreled away, and a bit ashamed in a way, that i've been buying new when theres been no need. but i've got my positive head on now, so no more buying til its all gone, and keep thinking of the space i am gaining, lol.

i've been wanting to add in plastic trays but it only says drinks bottles

still, it's all chucked in with the envelopes, tetra paks and cardboard so i guess it must be hand sorted... shouldn't hurt if i toss in other stuff... guess i should call the council

i try really hard NOT to add things in i'm not sure about for paper recycling as one wrong thing can gum up the entire batch

our recycling has changed so now we have a box instead of a bag, and they take a lot less stuff. They only take plastic bottles no other plastic, and the thing that i dont like is they are using a lot of stuff to make a fuel called 'floc' so they are basically burning all the stuff that cant be composted or which doesnt get magnetically picked out. :(
I hadnt thought about paint and stuff. must have a look and see what I can use or else have a clear out. Some local authorities have a paint swop day. I have a book which i list the colours used in each room and where i bought them in case i want to repaint in the same colour. Ds's room has different coluured walls, purple, claret, mint and peach. Believe it or not it works somehow!
My hair has never been so shiny! I used a posh sachet of shampoo at the gym and i felt like someone out of an advert;) LOL

have a look on the web, our council has a web site with a recycling section in it and you can email the recycling officer if you are unsure about what you can and can't do.
