I would assume leasing would invole a credit check.
I personally would sell one car and drive it til it dies and put money aside each month for repairs. But then, my DH is a good mechanic and can fix most things himself.
I think you need to get a grip in your money situation and anything I say from here on in will involve you pinning your ears back....This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Leasing cars is such a WASTE!
Assuming you pay £225 a month for a car and give it back at the end of the year, what have you got then? Nothing. Save up £225 a month and you will be able to BUY a car. And you have 2 GOOD cars! !!!!!! Len, we drove a D reg audi into the groud, 200,000 on the clock and it was still running when we got rid of it. you dont need a bigger car for goodness sakes, you're all just little people anyway! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. What on GOD's green EARTH do you need a people carrier for? I have 2 kids and we're fine in a 206!
DO NOT whinge to me about being broke again.
I think you're daft.Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -
You are assuming they will cost you £2k a year. Get rid of one car.
And you have no more peace of mind with a leased car. They can break down and whilst you may not have to pay for it to be fixed, you will still have hassle. I see just as money 08 plates broke down on the side of the road as old knackers.Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -
Len we bought a rover 400 last January and DH drove it everyday to work and now I use it everyday and so far it has cost us £700 to buy, 2 new tyres and an MOT...there are some reliable cars out there that wouldn't involve you spending money you don't have to spendI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

I'm glad that it's not just me that thinks that way Bunny! just about every couple I know who have recently had a baby have gone up to a bigger car because of the baby and they are talking ONE baby not eight like the lady in the US. Babies are only tiny and very few folk use a big pram after a year so there's not even that excuse!Mortgage OP 2025 £7050/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000
