so it doesn't matter if my diagnosis is wrong or right.
How pathetic are you? What an ignorant, small minded person you are! You have no idea what depression is about. May be you should go to one of your local groups and find out how depression comes about.
I suffered for 4 years and thank goodness have came out of it. Did not rely on any services or funding but then I have a wonderful decent husband who supported me.
If you are affected by this please come back to this forum and we shall see how you are then.
I have said my bit and now will just ignore everything else you have to say!0 -

where is your "evidence" they can't work?
Oh no, he's cracked the socialist conspiracy!0 -

Reforming the benefit/working tax credit/child tax credit system to make it less attractive for people to have lots of children that they can't afford is one thing, turning into China quite another.
I'm no bleeding heart lefty but I'm quite horrified by some of the views on here. Makes you realise just how easy it could be for parties like the BNP to gain power in times of economic turmoil.
My husband and I were only saying this the other day. All it needs is a charismatic leader like Barack Obama to arise from amongst their ranks in stead of the thugs that are there at the moment.
Heaven help us if this happens.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
we should just do what china does,
1 Child policy.
If you on the dole, you can only have 1 child, after that child you are temporarily made infertile.
If you work you can have 2-4 children, perhaps applying for a child licence would work where your ability to 'afford' said child is assessed by a governmental body.
At least that way they'd only need 2 bed flats for a significant proportion of council properties. Seems mean, but alot of individuals put off having children to save and save for a house and security... and in the end have 1 maybe 2 children if they lucky (30-40's time).
How darwin must be turning in his grave..... Evolution where as a generalisation the non-working class, the lower educated class produce more offspring per person than the ones who learn and show greater evolutionary promise.
.
sounds like your advocating eugenics
which in its worst case led to mass extinction in Nazi Germany0 -

Of course Gordon Brown single handedly brought about the collapse of the world banks - I thought that was common knowledge, are you stupid??
And Barak Obama will single handedly save them, even if his first call to a foreign leader was to Gordon Brown - he must be stupid.
It's the sweeping generalisations - if you live in a council house you are scum and a scrounger and stupid.
If you are a single mother you are scum and a scounger and stupid.
If you are unemployed you are scum and a scounger and stupid.
If you think the world financial crisis is not entirely the fault of Gordon Brown you are scum and stupid.
If you haven't sold to rent you are stupid
If you have bought a house with in the last 5 years you are stupid
If you are a BTL you are the devil incarnate and responsible for the entire housing bubble. You are worse than scum and stupid.
If you have mewed - god forbid - that puts you on a par with BTL - see above.
If you didn't see this coming 5 years ago you are stupid - because everyone who had half a brain knew this was going to happen when it did.
If you didn't sell your share portfolio you are stupid - see above
If you are in negative equity you are stupid and deserve everything you get - because you should have known 5 years ago this would happen.
If you haven't saved at least half the value of a house and have had a life over the last few years you are stupid - perhaps not quite scum.
If you lose your job and get repossessed you deserve to live on the streets with your children - because every one knew this was going to happen and you should have sold to rent. You are scum and stupid and have become a scrounger.

There will always be some people who are too bigoted and jealous of others to see clearly. Their blind egoism has them abusing any member of society that doesn't resemble them entirely, and pigeon-holing all into categories that allegedly legitimise that abuse. So, a single mother becomes a scrounging slapper; a poor sod suffering from depression is just a lying whining work-dodger. Ironically, when the most educated members of society (for instance, doctors) don't corroborate their views, they are labelled as liars as well. And so everything becomes a conspiracy, and these people begin to see themselves as victims. All of this is probably to create a hierarchy of deserving parts of society, consciously or not, where these people place themselves as the highest and most deserving kind. Then follows the idea that taxes should serve only those who have paid them, leading to the most dehumanising attitude of all: they would rather let those worse off than them rot in their own filth, than part with a penny of their cash to help them.
These people are those that will probably vote BNP in the next election. At best, they are incredibly gullible to attribute their woes to the unknown (those from other countries, and generally those who don't resemble them enough) - the kind of ridiculous stupidity to led to witch-hunts hundreds of years ago. And at worse, they are aggressive, hateful, and dangerously emotionally and mentally !!!!!! individuals.0 -
At what point did the safety net of benefits and allowances to help people who fall on bad luck or ill health become a lifestyle choice for the new underclass? My guess is 1981 when huge numbers of ex-industrial workers lost work and became "long-term sick". None of our pollies since have dealt with the issue.
Generations of long term unemployed have no clue that to get work you have to WANT to work, to be motivated and self reliant. Keeping people on these benefits is cruel0 -
