How does that work PP? You drape the washing over his outstretched arms and he twirls like a madman?:rotfl: :D

I have a wooden fold out one my dad made me when I got married (lasted longer than the marriage  ). It used to go a bit black but I washed it down with diluted bleach and it realised it was onto a loser to stopped doing it. :D

Can't imagine not having it TBH, everything that can't go in tumbledryer (yes, I know, but it is on economy 7.....) goes on it and as it's next to radiator it dries quickly.

As it's quite sturdy I also sit it on patio when weather is showery or grass too wet to walk on.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

    Mortgage-free Glee!
My OH has a wooden one left by his gran. He loves it (sentimental softie) but I can't deny I wasn't shocked at the sight of it first off. The rungs have gone black and when its laden with wet washing, it sinks about a foot lower!

I picked up a nearly new metal one from a charity shop the other week (much to my OH's fear that I was going to bin the other one!) and side by side, the poor old wooden one does look like the flash ones poor cousin!
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

I have always had a creel (ceiling airer) since being married - almost 30 years - (inherited in house) and wouldn't be without it, I use it all the time. Many a visitor to my kitchen have had a face full of tights when they've walked in unexpectedly :o I've also had both the wood one and a plastic coated one. My wooden one didn't go black, but the lighter clothes were stained, and the plastic coated was was fine but I found that it didn't do to well as a drier as the clothes were too close together and it also went a bit out of shape with the weight of wet clothes, I used it to put ironed clothes on but don't bother with it at all now.

  • I got a modern crome one from Dunelm earlier in the winter for about £10, best investment I've made in a while, I can fit loads on it and with the recent good weather I've been able to move it outside without any hassle to enjoy the breeze.

My TD died about 2 years ago now and I've managed without one despite adding another person to the family :D
  • I have a ceiling airer too - don't have a tumble drier, have three children under four and used washable nappies for them all, so couldn't be without it! Where I come from, they're known as sheila maids, and I got ours from:

    https://www.sheilamaid.com

They come in various lengths and finishes and are fairly reasonably priced, IMO.

I had the day off today and spent far too much of it in a hardware store paralysed by indecision as to what style of clothes horse I should buy.

My old plastic concertina type has broken and I had'nt thought replacing it was going to be a difficult decision, but I managed to make it so. I came home without one!

I use it a lot. What do old stylers recommend?

Minky 3 tier airer - we have 3 of these now and each one will hold a load of washing.

We have used cheaper ones but the Minky ones are so much sturdier and hold a lot of washing. They also have hanger hooks.

They are tall enough to dry bedding on as well - duvet cover draped over one side, sheet on the other.
It's not paranoia if they really are after you.
