Cooltrikerchick, I have one. It was left in the house when I moved in. It's not one of the deckchair ones - just a simple fold out rack. I pop it over the bath to hand the rugs on when I wash them.
However, my solution to the tumble drier has been to get a ceiling airer. I got mine from here:

I got the six way one - and as my OH is good with making things from timber he made me the wooden slats. I have not used my tumble drier since I bought this at Christmas. I had to save up for it as it is expensive - but as I dry several washes a week on mine it wil pay for itself this year. I live on a farm and cannot hang washing out as it gets covered in dust or mud. I hang my washing up in the evening and next morning it is dry. I'm saving for a smaller one to put up in the utility.Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -
I've had the wooden ones but found that if you put wet washing on them gradually over time the rungs would go black.
Had one that sort of lifted up and now have a metal one same shape and find that much better.

I use a clothes airer 12 months of the year. In bad/cold weather indoors and in good/warm weather outside. The powder coated wire ones or the newer chrome style are much better than the old wooden ones. they are lighter, easier to keep clean, and don't mark or stain your clothes.Life's a beach! My MIL gave me her old wooden clothes horse and it marked all the light colours. Don't know if they are still on offer, but I bought a nice one in wilkco a couple of weeks ago for £8.99.0

Hi,
We used my mil old wooden clothes horse until it became too rickety when I replaced it with and almost identical one from lakeland - the only difference is the rungs are plastic coated, hence they don't go black
http://www.lakeland.co.uk/product.aspx/!4655
We also have one of these, again from Lakeland and would be without it
http://www.lakeland.co.uk/product.aspx/!8849
all I would say is that we live in Cardiff and Lakeland regularly have these in the bargain section - the ceiling airers have been seen to go for £5
Also have one of these from Argos, they're ok, some of the plastic has started to go on it, its about 9 years old.

golly this sound like I'm a bit of a collector of clothes horses :rotfl: :rotfl:

The wooden ones do look nice, but only at first! As above, they do tend to go black, are heavy to lug around, and take up more space than the more modern metal ones.
The pulley airers are really lovely - I want one!0 -

If you've got the room, go for one of these - they're brilliant! We've got a 4 slat one (from ebay) in our utility room and we can fit a whole load of washing on it, usually dry in 24 hours. And we can fit king size sheets on, folded up and they dry fine.(We've only got normal height ceilings too, so it is to one side of the room where we don't bash our heads on the washing).

I've got the wooden lakeland one that Suet put a link too and i've had no problems with it. There are two heights you can set it at and it doesn't mark as the actual rungs are plastic. Looks better than the all plastic one that I got from tesco last year. I only use the tumble dryer for work towels now. Only problem is that the only place we can really dry clothes in the main bedroom which isn't perfect but needs must. Hope you find one xxJanuary budget

thanks peeps... suet..... thats the type i want......and with it having the plastic coated runners.. that would be idea...plus it looks os....
i dont think i would have anywhere to put the on on the ceiling.... smallish rooms.... and with hubby being 6'2 i dont think he would be amused at my knickers....slapping him in the face so to speak ( but then again:rolleyes: )
i have seen the ones similar to the link at argos.. one.... and the look a bit flimsey.......
slightly off topic.... but i know someone years ago that used to air her clothes in the back of the car.....as the sun shining through the car window was warm.....
plus she had one of the wooden clothes horse. that if the weather was a bit overcast before she went out .. instead of putting the washing on the line..... she would put it in the greenhouse.. with her washing on.... so if it rained it wouldnt get wet.....plus it would dry
hope that made sense...Work to live= not live to work0
