You can get the best of both worlds though - personalised and inexpensive:

Buy some coloured card from WHSmith or wherever, and cut it into heart shapes. Probably best to draw one well and trace round it so they're not all mis-shapen (hearts never the easiest to draw!)

Get yourself a nice pen - glitter, gold, silver etc - and turn the hearts into Love Cheques / Love IOUs / Love Promises - whatever you want to call them depending on how mushy, romantic, cheesy you're feeling

Then depending on how many cards you've got, and how generous with your emotions you are, get promising: hugs, kisses, meals out, meals in, massages, cleaning the bathroom, hoovering up, a night of tv choice, a weekend away, looking after the kids, or any other "special treats" (wink wink) you may want to offer

Now all you've got to do is stick to your promises!!!

I did this for xmas and it worked a treat. We're getting married this year. I worked out from xmas day until our wedding was 180 days. I bought a forever friends small box and some coloured paper and a gold and silver coloured pen and wrote 180 reasons why we should get married.

Everyone thinks I'm really sweet (which I am) and romantic. (We also got engaged at the top of the Eiffel Tower on Valentines Day). Perhaps fellow MS can try this but obviously use their own dates or landmarks... This earned me several (180+) brownie points...
