Great Valentine's Day Hunt

How about making a card from eating paper, using 'writing' icing pens to write your message and sticking love hearts, lip sweets etc on using the writing icing as an edible glue? Did this for my daughter last year and it went down a treat! Also, as a breakfast treat, cut bread into a heart shape for surprise romantic toast (best not get crumbs in bed tho....!)
Any other creative ideas out there? and ones for kids as well as partners? Ta!0 -
John_D wrote:If you can't afford to buy roses, then take your wife along to the local stables - get her to hold a big plastic bag open and help your self to some horse manure to spread around your garden roses. In due course you will get some fantastic roses of your own and you'll have had a bit of fun telling your friends how you gave your wife a good time!
LOL :rotfl: I hope my husband does not read this!!!0 -
PDSA charity shops have Valentines Cards from 49p. They are all good quality - seem to be remainders. They also do Xmas cards, Mothers Day card etc when the time comes. You can get a big one for about 99p and it's not every day that you get that!!!!Snootchie Bootchies!0

Why not give the person you love a personalised gift unique to you? There's a great site offering personalised teddy bears (with photo or just text), cute teddy bear key rings etc. It's:

Buy some golden or silver card from a stationery shop.
Cut loads of small heart shapes, with some hearts perhaps a different colour but at least big enough to stand out and take a small clue for the treasure hunt.
So work out first what you want him/her to find (yourself with a big gift wrap bow, a bunch of flowers, a gift, a mystery date to a nice restaurant eg) and starting from the door (they do have to be out of the house to start with!), build a small trail leading to a clue on the bigger/different colour heart shape. A clue can be : "follow the hearts to April in Paris", with a few extra hearts scattered in front of the Goons tape, for instance, in case they don't get it first time, and the next clue can be hidden on the reverse of the tape/cd. Spread the clues around the place, leading to the final gift.
It takes thought and effort, but what wouldn't you do for your loved one?
It does work a treat, it's fun, doesn't break the bank, and reminds you both why you're together!!!!!

Sorry can't remember price, I think I got it from Firebox or some of these online gift shops, sorry can't be more precise.
I got some of these from Natural World for £5 each in the sale - they are brilliant and my friends loved them when I gave them as presents!!
Here's the link (they're £10 at the moment)
Another idea is Lindt Chocolates. If you spend £10 instore at Boots you can get a £3.49 box of Lindt chocolates for 99p. :T0 -
All you guys moaning about what you can't get with the kitkash tokens....have a dekkers at what you CAN get.
Look again...with only 100 kitkash points you can buy a £5 voucher for firebox.com.
For a really special treat, order their pair of lollies with the 24 carat gold flakes and the pearl powder (supposed to be an aphrodisiac). The lollies are £6.95 for the pair, the postage is £3.95 an you get a fiver off.
I have just got them on next day delivery and they are super fabby and unusual too. They also put a card and message in there for you if you are being anon... and they tuck in some free haribo style sweeties for fun. What service...
If you hate the person or you are a fashionable goth, then order the lollies with scorpions, worms, snake venom or ants...Yes...real ones
Have fun and tell me....0 -
Ooooh and another idea I did once when severely broke...get some shops own label fabby 70% type cocoa dark choccy, much cheaper in the own label brand. Put some silver foil out onto baking trays, melt the choccy in a double boiler carefully, then spoon it out into loads of flat heart shapes then put them in the fridge to cool.
Find a lovely box or a cellophane bag and present your Fortnum & Ownsom choccys to your loved one.0 -

Some good ideas so far - definitely agree that the treasure hunt is great fun.
This year we have said that we will not buy each other presents, just cards as we're a bit strapped for cash. We will contribute the same amount each and go out for a meal the weekend following Valentine's Day instead. There is a nice American style diner nearby that we haven't been to for ages, we can get a shared starter, main course each and a (yummy) thick milkshake for around £20 for both of us.
Been into Poundland today and they have 170g boxes of Belgian Flaked Truffle chocolates for £1. The packaging looks quite nice (ie not cheap!)
I bought boyfriend a heart 'cushtie' cushion last year . He says it's one of the best presents I've given him - it's sooooo comfortable to lie on... we've had (play) fights over whose turn it is to use the cushtie! Available from https://www.iwantoneofthose.com in the 'Romantic Valentine' section for £9.99.
I also bought him a couple of years ago, an acre of the moon. You can then say to your partner 'Look, I've given you the moon, what more do you want?Had a quick search and you can get this from https://www.firebox.com for £19.95. For that you get a 'lunar deed, lunar site map, lunar constitution and bill of rights (including mineral rights), declaration of ownership and lunar registration card in silver packaging' (taken from firebox site).
Hope that helps someone - have a happy Valentine's Day0
