Help! On PC on standby..

Hi

My DS clicked on the standby button, instead of turn off or restart, and now I cant get into the pc. The monitor is black and the fans on the unit are whirring away

Please help asap, as its DS birthday and he's due in in an hour and I need to print off his banner!!!

Panic over!! Tried your suggestions but still nothing then I turned it off at the plug in the wall. Back on

Ok that worked this time but dont do it again unless you want to kill your Hard Drive as the reader heads may just stop working.
