Gotta say, we had a Golden delish in our last garden and the apples were really lovely - nothing like the tasteless things you buy
My DH is always moaning that we should have dug it up and brought it with us - he misses it!Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0 -

Is this price right Faraway as my local Lidl is also offering these on Thursday but at £5.99 each. I'd hate to think Lidl had joined the "let's rip off Northern Ireland customers" brigade.
Think you'll find LIDL have been ripping us off for ages...an extra £1 here and there across the board...easy to spot when the English site has the items the week before or after us.
Its amazing how they get away with it as well....Lidl has one of the country's largest storage facilities anywhere....I think a lot of stuff comes from Europe into Ireland through the South , then stored in the North and then onto England....so why do we pay more...
I think the answer is to do with the fact we have euros down south and sterling in the north...and it was easier to show items on the "common" website as one price...lol
My local Tescos has fruit trees in stock as well.....can't remember the exact price £6 or £7 quid or there abouts...looked great quality as wellI'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0 -
Thanks Torby, no Tesco near me but I'll call to one near work soon.
It really make me cross though when we are excluded from offers or charged more just because we're in NI. I make a point of e-mailing website sellers who charge more to NI customers for delivery and asking what method they use. I've come across sites that charge £4-5 to UK Mainland and £25 + for NI and they are using Royal Mail for both!! #Fair enough to pass on an additional cost to them but that is just theft. They do get a tad annoyed when I then ask them to justify the extra charge but I'm only annoying myself. It won't change them! :rolleyes:0 -
just want to say thanks to the op .. i bought a bramley apple tree yesturday... thinking of buying another one... will have to look out for one the varieties to cross polinate now..
do you know of any cheap granny smith, elstar, or cox's orange pippin apples trees?
also next week they have cheap fruit bushes i tink they were 3 for £3.49 gooseberries etc...Work to live= not live to work0 -
they dd have cox's in at Lidl last week, they do sell out quickly though... however, I have just read on here that Aldi have fruit trees coming in later this week (friday I think) - it does not list all the varieties but apparently there are 5 in total so a good chance you will get the ones you want if you are there early enough!
I braved it through the snow to be in Lidl soon after eight the day the fruit trees came in - there was already a chap there looking specifically for fruit trees too when I arrived!0 -
Granny Smiths were one of the varieties mentioned on the Aldi website - the fruit trees are due in in Thursday..
