Trying to unlock Samsung E250 from Orange to O2!

Hiya,

I just took delivery of a Samsung E250 phone, which is currently locked to Orange.

I was hoping to use my O2 contract sim in this phone, but when I just tried, the phone displays a 'network lock' message, so it's obviously locked to the Orange network.

Having just paid £3.99 to an online 'unlocking' company... http://www.mobile-unlock-codes.co.uk/ ...they sent me a code to enter..the trouble is, the code is partly made up of '*' and '#' and the phone won't let me enter these :o So, the phone is, for now, unusable :(

Any help, as to how I can enter the '*' and the '#' with the unlock code, onto the Samsung would be most appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Regards,

Leigh.

I'd be most grateful for any help with this, as I'm now completely stumped!

I put the Orange sim (that came with the phone) into the Samsung handset..entered the unlock code..'EEPROM RESET" appeared, which I presume was resetting it to the factory settings. The screen flashes a couple of times, but then the Orange logo still comes up.

However, the menu / layout is slightly different. I then tried entering the O2 sim card, and doing the same..'O2 UK' came up for a few seconds, but then 'limited s...' comes up. which I presume must be limited service?

Anyway, I now can't make calls at all with the O2 sim card in, but when I put the Orange sim back in, all is fine again.

    Please help someone! :o

    Thanks dickieg.

How do I do this though?!

I've downloaded the file. Can I use bluetooth or do I have to use a USB cable?

    Also, I have a Mac..so it's not opening!

Will try and fire up the aged PC :-/

    Thanks again :-)

    Hiya C,

I do indeed have a normal keypad, with the * and # keys on there..

Trouble is, before, when I inserted the O2 sim, I came to a screen on the Samsung that just said 'network lock'..when I pressed the * key, nothing appeared. When I pressed the # key, a message appeared saying 'password too short'!

Since trying the code while the Orange sim was in, and then with the O2 sim in, it seems that this screen / network message no longer appears.

However, I can not make calls at all, as it won't 'connect' to the O2 network..

    Any ideas?!

what's happening if you don't insert any sim?

a thought, can you check your IMEI (type #06#)?
did it change since you did your unlocking stuff?

    Hiya C,

Just checked the IMEI number, and it has changed to a row of zeroes, so yes, it has changed since trying to unlock :o ...is this bad?

I have just tried turning on phone without any sim card in there, and the Orange animation comes up..followed by an 'Insert SIM' message / graphic / phone icon crossed out / SOS only.

Really worried I've b * ggered my phone up now :o

What can I do to get my phone working normally, but on my O2 contract SIM, without payin Orange £20?!

    Many Thanks,

    Leigh.

    Update...

    C,

Just tried O2 SIM in phone..

O2 came up on screen, but then disappeared again, to show phone icon crossed through / 'limited service' msg.

    :(
